Place was falling apart. Our first room had no AC. There was no AC in what seemed like any of the buildings there. Place really needed to be updated. I understand it is supposed to be to give off a historical feel, because it certainly did, but everything needed some attention. Seemed to be only one guy running the whole place. He was nice though. Another guest came into the lobby and complained about his fire alarm going off. We checked out 2 hours later. Beautiful property but not quality.
As a 10 year Hilton Diamond member, I have to say, this was the most disappointing stay I’ve ever had. I am still shocked at the utter disrepair and neglect. From the moment you enter the building, you’re met with absolutely disgusting carpet. There are huge water spots and stains every few feet. I was traveling with 16 other people, so it would have been difficult to relocate. We suffered through, but we were all pretty miserable. The staff in the restaurant, however, couldn’t have been nicer, but this entire place needs a complete renovation. The potential is there - modeled after Monticello and positioned on a golf course - sounds absolutely delightful. But we were shocked when we discovered the golf course is deserted. The grounds are overgrown, dead trees and bushes, and weed. One plus - the pool was wheelchair accessible and even had a chair lift. Full disclosure - we didn’t use it, but I assume it works. Most hotels don’t have that, so again, the potential for this to be an inclusive and beautiful hotel is there, but the overall theme of our week-long stay was each of us repeatedly asking ourselves and each other how could this possibly be a Hilton hotel….
I can't recommend staying at this hotel. I got a room on the first/ground floor right by the parking lot. There was a long service tunnel down there by the rooms that made for creepy vibes. The TV was broken for 80% of my stay. The room was dark and dingy and overall not comfortable. Fairly clean but could've been better. The grounds desperately need an upgrade. There's a run down golf course. This place was probably great for families like 15 years ago. I think my stay would've been better if I was on a higher floor but they were fully booked due to multiple work conferences going on. Unfortunately not a fan and I was ready to leave asap. Probably better options downtown.
This place is an enigma. Looks like they were trying to build a hotel resort but never got around to properly finishing it. It looks like it ought to have a golf course but it doesn't. The whole place has the vibe of The Overlook Hotel from The Shining. A once elegant hotel that's falling into decay. Aside from the noisy AC unit in the room, it was very quiet. If there were other guests staying there, we didn't hear them. The nearby street noise was only apparent when we went outdoors. Good water pressure in the shower. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast costs extra so we didn't even check it out, as there are plenty of nearby alternatives.
Probably one of the most unique Hiltons I have ever stayed in! Hilton NEEDS to put money into this place. It would definitely be an investment that would pay off. Rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable.
