Motueka Nehri Lodge

Had the most magical stay at Motueka River Lodge - a beautiful space, in a stunning corner of the world, with absolutely phenomenal food. I left feeling utterly restored and am already planning a return visit! Thank you so much for the amazing hospitality.

We were lucky and arrived as part of a trip to New Zealand to MOTUEKA RIVER LODGE, located on the South Island, which is also the residence of Rose and Graham and they even admire it. It is a charming, breathtaking house immersed in a garden with beautiful and well-kept vegetation. The place can accommodate up to 12 people with another adjacent building. The building itself and the rooms are completely new, tastefully decorated like the entire house, and offer the guest a luxurious stay with everything needed, including treats that Rose takes care to provide. The food at the place is prepared by a chef. We had two dinners and two breakfasts that were at the level of a Michelin restaurant, and the chef's delicate hand was evident in every meal. The hospitality was perfect and above all, Rose and Graham were the ones who finally created the special atmosphere of the place and made the experience so special. It is clear that if we return to the South Island again, we will return to this wonderful place. We were privileged to be, to be hosted by and to get to know the charming Rose and Graham. This was the highlight of our trip to the South Island! Roz and Graham are the absolute best, most engaging hosts, and the property is a beautiful, bird-filled sanctuary with trees and flowers galore. This is a hidden gem you won’t want to miss!! Could not fault the accommodation or food (just breakfast for us), it was fantastic. We were the last guests of the season and stayed in the cottage, which was very warm and cosy. The grounds are beautiful and the sounds of the birds adds to the serenity. Chere made our stay extra special, from the incredibly warm welcome to the fantastic local knowledge and great cooking, she made the stay extra special.

This place is awesome!!! The lodge is so relaxing and surrounded by beautiful landscape, flowers and tons of birds!!! The food is superb, from breakfast to dinner, (Shout Out to Chere !!!!) and the local wine selection from the Nelson area is superb and is a lot of fun to explore!!! You will be well taken care of here and will have a great time !!!

I had a pleasant stay at Motueka Lodge, and can highly recommend it. The whole property has the feel of a pesonable and comfortable home. The GM Chere is very pleasant and social, and took care of all of my requests. And wow can she whip up a delicious breakfast! She was very generous with her time, and offered lots of local travel tips. I especially enjoyed a cozy fire in the reading room on a chilly evening. The property location is closer to Abel Tasman and Golden Bay than Nelson, so it's a good location to access the best outdoor parks in the region. On the drive in there were stands of locally grown organic fruits and vegetables, and I stopped to buy some local blueberries that were perfectly in season. Thanks Chere for a perfect stay.
