Do not stay here. My experience was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. I had originally booked for two days, and on the second night, the manager—who stays in the unit above the shared kitchen—came down and spoke to us very rudely, telling us we had to leave. This was especially confusing because I had just booked an additional room for the following day about 30 minutes prior. The situation escalated when we were accused of touching food that wasn’t ours. For clarity, we only threw out an empty box and did not take or touch anything in the fridge. I also want to note that the tone, body language, and overall interaction felt targeted toward my friend, who was the only Black guest there. The way they were addressed and treated felt noticeably different and left us both feeling uncomfortable. The situation then escalated further when there was physical contact, including shoving and pushing, which led me to call the police. I’ve never experienced anything like this before, and the way we were treated felt disrespectful, unsafe, and unfair.
I had to give it one star, but it's far from being a star. We stayed in this filthy place from March 18th to 24th. This isn't a hotel, it's a dump. Don't go because you'll be forced to sleep among cockroaches that even crawl under the sheets. Naturally, there's no assistance, because despite our complaints, the cockroaches continued to stay undisturbed. Furthermore, everything was dirty; when we moved the bed to chase the cockroaches away, we found a lot of accumulated dust and hair. This disgusting place has absolutely no hygiene standards. We requested a full refund, which was about $600, and after several arguments with Hotels.com, the owner only refunded $90. If you don't want to leave Pietro Rico with some illness, avoid this hotel.
We stayed one night before a cruise - good location close to the beach, restaurants and bars. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Would stay again.
Perfect location with the perfect host! Patrick greeted us on arrival and made us feel so welcomed. We were steps away from the beach and the rooms AC was top notch. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in San Juan!
I blocked a few rooms for my friends and family who were coming to San Juan for my wedding. I worked directly with Patrick, the owner, who was nothing but responsive, kind, and very sweet. I am not sure what these reviewers did who said that the owner was so awful. I texted and was on the phone with him for months as he worked with me to book my friends and family, always reaching out to me and helping me place everyone in the best room for them. I toured the hotel, it's a very clean and simple design and frankly I think the rooms are much nicer in person than the photos on the website show. Patrick was extremely accommodating to my friends and family and had nothing but good things to say about him and the hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect: two blocks from the beach, and two blocks from many adorable cafes, bars, and restaurants that are perfect for anyone visiting San Juan. For the price and location, the Omero offers clean and straightforward accommodations that are a great deal for San Juan. Thank you to Patrick for his amazing customer service. If anyone is looking for a room block for a wedding party, the Omero has my seal of approval.
This hotel offers very good value for money and is especially convenient thanks to its excellent location, close to the beach, shops, and plenty of breakfast spots. We felt safe throughout our stay, with police patrolling the area day and night. Access is easy, as the pin codes for the front door and the room worked smoothly, and communication with the staff was pleasant — they were friendly, responsive, and spoke good English. The rooms are simply but thoughtfully equipped, each with air conditioning, a small window, basic toiletries, and a few hangers. In the common area, guests can use shared kitchen equipment and even sunscreen, which is a nice extra touch. A few things to note depending on personal preferences: the bed is on the shorter side (around 180 cm) and fairly firm. Sound insulation is limited — street noise isn’t an issue, but conversations in the garden can be clearly heard in the rooms. Also, there’s a very cute white cat that hangs out in the garden and greets guests, which we loved, but it may not be ideal for anyone with allergies. Overall, a comfortable, well-located, and practical choice.
