Hotel Clermont is one of Atlanta's most storied addresses: a 1924 building on Ponce de Leon Avenue that was a residential hotel for much of the twentieth century, home to the Clermont Lounge — a strip club operating continuously since 1965 and considered a cultural institution — before being renovated into an upscale boutique hotel that preserved the building's remarkable character. The renovation maintained the art deco bones of the building while adding contemporary amenities: the Tiny Lou's restaurant in the ground floor, a rooftop bar with views of the Midtown skyline, and 94 rooms that mix vintage furnishings with modern comfort. The Clermont Lounge in the basement continues to operate, adding a layer of Atlanta personality that no other hotel in the city can claim. The hotel is not exclusively gay but is emphatically gay-welcoming and located on a stretch of Ponce de Leon that connects Midtown's gay district to Inman Park. For visitors who want character, history, and proximity to Atlanta's LGBTQ+ scene in a boutique package, the Clermont is the right choice. The rooftop bar is particularly recommended for sunset drinks before heading to Blake's or Jungle.
