Hotel Kimal

Very welcoming atmosphere, very clean and even quite large cabins. Hot shower, comfortable bed and quiet environment. The breakfast is very good and I highlight the cleanliness and tidiness of the staff. Always calling us by name, very polite, room service always very impeccable. I recommend it and would return! Ideal for couples, it doesn't have a TV, it has a mini-fridge, but also for those who want to watch TV in Atacama!!!!

Pros: Excellent Location: The hotel is perfectly situated, making it very convenient to get around.Spotless Accommodation: The cabin was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.Wonderful Restaurant Staff: The team at the restaurant was incredibly friendly, attentive, and provided great service. Cons: Frustrating Booking & Payment Process: Booking from Australia was a hassle. After I accidentally used a Chilean debit card, the hotel contacted me to change it but initially refused to let me pay in Chilean Pesos via bank transfer, despite me being a Chilean national with a local bank account. They insisted on charging in USD. Communication during this process was very slow, leaving me anxious about securing the reservation. Inconsistent Front Desk Communication: Upon arrival, the staff was polite and gave us a voucher for lunch or dinner. However, they forgot to give us our welcome drink tickets. We only found out about this benefit later from a different receptionist. Even after pointing out that we never received them, they did not provide the vouchers, and since they can only be redeemed on arrival day, we missed out. Poor Wi-Fi Connection: The internet service was highly unreliable and kept disconnecting throughout our stay. Lovely hotel! Cosy, comfy rooms and perfect location just off the high street. Only small gripe is that there wasn’t a kettle in the room but there was tea and coffee available in reception.

Hotel Kimal was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The location is extraordinary, perfect for enjoying San Pedro, and the rooms achieve something I loved: they deeply respect the culture, architecture, and traditions of the area, without sacrificing comfort. Having a cozy, comfortable room with good heating after a day exploring the desert is incredibly welcome. The restaurant deserves a special mention. Both the food and breakfast are spectacular: varied, plentiful, delicious, and very well prepared. It's one of those breakfasts where you say, "I'll just have something light," and end up trying absolutely everything 😂. But without a doubt, the best thing about Hotel Kimal is its people. From the cleaning staff and the restaurant staff to the receptionists, the entire team exudes kindness, care, and incredible helpfulness. You can tell when a place has people who truly enjoy making their guests feel welcome. I especially want to highlight Sol, because she was the one I had the most opportunity to talk to. Always kind, caring, responsible, and attentive. And she has an amazing aura ✨. With all due respect, she radiates a joy and energy reminiscent of Inside Out: one of those people whose positive vibes are contagious and make your stay even more special. I recommend Hotel Kimal a thousand times over. We felt incredibly comfortable, well taken care of, and happy throughout our entire stay. I'll definitely be back. ❤️

Very good hotel, good location, good breakfast and well-integrated architecture. I was delighted with the staff: polite, helpful and mostly they work with care. Especially Sevla, attentive, always smiling, kind, a real find! I also thank Cristian who helped us when my husband was unwell, and surprised us with a small cake on my son's birthday.

It was a unique experience in San Pedro de Atacama. The highlight of the hotel is undoubtedly its location. It's right next to the village's main street. The rustic atmosphere makes Hotel Kimal a very comfortable and charming guesthouse. The staff is very friendly and helped us with a delicate situation in an unparalleled way. The breakfast is very good, and they are welcoming to people with celiac disease, like us.

⚠️ STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL IN THE ROOM The Negative: We booked two rooms in advance, but one of them was uninhabitable due to a strong chemical smell from recent varnish on the floor. I am asthmatic and my daughter is allergic; exposing guests to this in the dry Atacama climate is a serious health risk. The hotel lacked transparency in not informing us about the renovation before arrival. To top it off, they gave a nonsensical excuse that the air conditioning couldn't work in ventilation mode because it was solar-powered. The mistake ruined our first day. The Positive: The staff really cared. With the hotel full, the manager made a full and immediate refund for the problematic room. They accepted our suggestion to improvise a third bed in the double room, hastily removing furniture to accommodate us. On the second day, in a completely proactive way while we were on a tour, they reorganized the room layout, optimizing the space and restoring some comfort for the remainder of our stay. A serious planning and safety failure in the hotel's maintenance, but partially compensated for.

Beautiful property with lots of rustic wood features. Conveniently located at the end of the main walking street in town. A special thanks to Sevla who greets each guest like a long lost friend. We thought she was the owner from the way she treated us!

I came to the hotel with my mom and we had an amazing time during our stay. Sol and Garo are so lovely, very attentive and friendly; they gave us recommendations on where to eat and where we could buy certain things. I would return just for the excellent service.
