The best accommodation I've ever had in Atacama, without a doubt. What stands out most is the staff: from management to all the employees, incredible, loving and extremely dedicated service. We felt genuine care in every detail of the stay; it's not that routine service, it's people who really care about making your experience memorable. This, combined with the location and structure of the hotel, makes Awasi unbeatable in the region. I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a luxurious, soulful experience in the Atacama Desert.
Our stay at Awasi Atacama was flawless from start to finish, from the airport pickup right down to our ultra-early morning departure, for which they prepared an amazing breakfast box. The service from the entire staff was exceptional. Front desk, housekeeping, restaurant staff, guides, we got a genuinely personalized welcome at every single moment. The dining experience was just as good. Head Chef Sebastián delivers really fine cooking from breakfast to dinner, highlighting exceptional products with a true local touch and indigenous ingredients. The explanations that came with each dish added so much to the experience. A special shout-out to our bartender, Roque: fantastic cocktails, and we had great talks about traveling. Many thanks also to Mila, the sommelier, for helping us discover amazing wines from Chile! The rooms (which some people label as "rustic") are actually beautifully decorated, full of character, not at all sanitized, and perfectly integrated into the region's atmosphere. Enjoy the oustide shower with burning hot water in the cold night while star gazing ! The pool is heated, even if our packed excursion schedule didn't leave much time to enjoy it, but its size is perfectly adequate for how intimate the hotel is. We came for the landscapes, not for laps. The excursions were absolutely stunning. Truly world-class hospitality. Thank you to the whole team for these unforgettable memories, to our guide, Juan Luis, to Brian for the great conversations we shared, and to Roque and Roxy for the wonderful chats and laughs.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this resort a 15! It's a welcoming place with attentive and dedicated service; they pay attention to every detail. The staff is incredibly warm and the service is excellent.
Awasi means "at home" in the local indigenous language. Atacama is a geographical area of Chile known for having the driest desert on Earth. Here in this place, in the town of San Pedro de Atacama, with about 9,000 inhabitants, this boutique hotel was born from the initiative and ideas of a Spanish woman with extensive knowledge of South America and interests in many of its countries, named Ana Sainz de Vicuña. She primarily based her business on providing personalized service to every client, especially in exclusive excursion tourism. This idea triumphed, and after more than 20 years, it led to four other establishments under the Awasi umbrella, belonging to the same group, in Brazil and Argentina. She has since sold the business. The philosophy: The client is pampered down to the last detail. Thus, the gastronomy, based on Chilean dishes and products, is extraordinary, with unsurpassed preparation and presentation. The staff's professionalism is top-notch. This is perhaps the most outstanding aspect for me. From the first employee to the last, they are all gems. Consider that here, in the different areas, more than 80 people work to serve 12 rooms. And in each room, a maximum of 3 people. But with everything the business entails—and therein lies its success—you feel treated like family, like you're at home. The facilities—the photos speak for themselves. The surroundings. The Altiplano and the Andes are a magical place. Harsh, but very attractive. Here, you have to be careful with the altitude. San Pedro de Atacama is already over 2,300 meters. And it goes even higher. Gradual acclimatization is necessary. Take it slowly to avoid problems. Stay hydrated all day. Use constant sun protection. Wear long sleeves and a hat. Cover your head. Here one perceives the power and force of the land, with volcanoes nearly 6,000 meters high and mountains of equal stature. Geysers at the highest altitudes in the world. Mountains and volcanoes are colorful due to their rich mineral content. Water, a scarce resource, does not prevent the indigenous people from continuing their way of life and customs since time immemorial. Tourism contributes to their livelihood and is well-managed. The environment is not damaged, and the facilities are clean, with daily operations well-managed. The local mining company, whose main resource is copper, also contributes in the form of subsidies for its operations. The hotel is located in the town itself, which has a pleasant atmosphere with shopping, services, and restaurants, and a cosmopolitan feel. It is a safe place.
We experienced unforgettable days, truly etched in our memories. Especially thanks to the Awasi Hotel and its fantastic team. A strong culture of special and personalized attention… wonderful cuisine and wines… we 100% recommend a visit and stay… And from the beginning we were very well received and accompanied by the best guide, Leonardo (Léo), and the lovely Belem… Mila is the best sommelier… spectacular chef… Sam, Marcelo, Romy… everyone was special and essential in making everything so perfect.
As a person who travels a lot, and has had the opportunity to seize many great hotels in Europe, Africa, South and North America I find myself not really used of writing reviews about them. But Awasi Atacama has stand out amongst all. The Relajs Chateaux and 2 Michelin Keys classification are the pure reflection of the outstanding quality of the Awasi group. I could write up to 10 pages of simple compliments to the hotel and its staff, but I’ll try to make my review as brief and as true as possible. Awasi Atacama is a place where I definitely felt at home, with a caring, efficient, joyful and dedicated staff, that could anticipate even my regular drinks of choice without even having to ask. The quality of the rooms and architecture in general, not only were incredibly well thought but also extremely comfortable and spacious, as you would expect of hotel of this quality. The food, made by chef Sebastian, was outstanding for every single meal, that being spectacular dinners of many courses or just mind blowing snacks by the pool. Out of every thing I could highlight of the Awasi Atacama group nothing could beat the impeccable service, treating each guest as a close friend. A special shoutout to my amazing guides Cris and Oswaldo, that made the whole immersion with the Atacama Desert a special adventure, showing us how rich the culture and nature of this scenic environment are. Out of everything, if I could this would be a 11/10 review
