National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC)

The National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC) is a Kenyan human-rights organisation founded in 2012 by legal advocates. It gives free legal aid to LGBTQ+ people, documents violence, arrests and blackmail cases, and takes strategic cases to court. It was the applicant in the 2023 Supreme Court ruling that upheld its right to register as an NGO. It does not publish a street address, to protect clients and staff; contact it through nglhrc.com. For visitors, it is a contact if you face arrest, extortion or violence. Same-sex relations between men remain criminalised in Kenya and app-based blackmail setups are a known risk.
