Explosion is the gay dance club in the basement of the Sanyo Kaikan building at 8-23 Doyama-cho, and Osaka's tourism bureau says it has been running for about 30 years. Unlike the counter bars upstairs and around it, this is a real dance floor with DJs and themed party nights, such as its Halloween party, and it is used to visitors who don't speak Japanese. The bureau lists hours of 20:00 to 04:00 most nights and 21:00 to 05:00 on Saturday, closed on Tuesday. It fills late, after people have done a round of the small bars. Expect a cover on party nights; Google reviewers rate it 3.8 from about 90 reviews.

Great karaoke bar with super friendly vibes in the heart of Doyamacho! Just had a fantastic evening at EXPLOSION and we loved every minute of it! This cozy B1F karaoke bar has a really nice, relaxed atmosphere, a huge song selection, and great energy. The staff is incredibly nice and welcoming — they made us Western tourists feel right at home from the second we walked in. Prices are very fair (especially for Osaka), the drinks are good, and the whole place has a warm, inclusive vibe. Perfect spot to sing your heart out, laugh a lot, and meet nice guys in Osaka’s gay district. Highly recommended!
