Gay Saunas in Chiang Mai: The Honest 2026 Picture
The honest summary: Chiang Mai is down to one gay sauna that the local guide still confirms, plus one smaller place that only Travel Gay lists. Older guides name three or four bathhouses; House of Male, the best known of them, is closed. If a big sauna scene is the point of your trip, go to Bangkok. If you just want a steam and a swim after the temples, Club One Seven does the job.
Club One Seven Sauna
Where: 385/2 Charoen Prathet Road, Chang Khlan, on the Ping River, south of the Night Bazaar. Hours: gay-in-chiangmai.com gives noon to midnight; The Gay Passport gives 4pm to midnight. Phone: 053 274 317.
The sauna is part of Club One Seven, the gay men's hotel, and non-guests can come in for the day. Travel Gay Asia and The Gay Passport list an outdoor pool, a gym, a dry sauna, a large herbal steam room, a darkroom and cruising area, relaxation cabins and massage, plus a bar and café. Towels cost extra. The crowd is a mix of local Thai students and foreign visitors, and weekends sometimes have themed parties such as mask nights. Recent reviews are frank about wear and tear: tired facilities, cold showers and musty corners come up more than once. Go for the pool and the steam, not for luxury.
Staying at the hotel gets you the sauna and pool without the day fee and puts you a 15-minute walk from the Soi 6 bars.
Kaikan CNX
Where: 244 Wua Lai Road, Pa Daet, the silver-workshop street south of the old city. Hours: Travel Gay lists daily 1pm to midnight. Phone: 095 821 6841.
Travel Gay describes a big jacuzzi, a steam room and a small dry sauna, with free water. Reviewers say the dry sauna does not hold heat well and that Kaikan is more a place to relax than to meet people. The local guide gay-in-chiangmai.com does not list it at all, so we could not confirm it from a second current source. Check the Facebook page before you make the trip. Wua Lai Road has the Saturday walking market, so a Saturday evening visit fits in easily.
Gone but still Googled
- House of Male (Soi Sai Nam Phueng, off Nimman): the sauna with the pool and gym that most older guides recommend. gay-in-chiangmai.com lists it as closed (January 2026) and Travel Gay marks it temporarily closed. It no longer shows up in Google Maps searches.
- Cruising Plus, Free Man Sauna and Sparoma: listed as closed by the local guide.
- His Club: the massage and sauna brand behind several older listings is on the local guide's closed list.
- Classic House Massage, 27/2 Tha Phae Road Soi 4, between the old city and the Night Bazaar. gay-in-chiangmai.com calls it the city's longest-running gay massage shop; open noon to midnight.
- Common Massage & Spa, 27/4 Hussadhisawee Road, Chang Phueak. Recommended by the same guide: noon to 11pm, about 900 baht an hour plus a tip of 500 to 1,500 baht.
- Bring cash. Smaller venues often do not take cards.
- Lockers are standard; keep your passport at your hotel and carry a copy.
- Grab is the easiest way to reach Charoen Prathet Road or Wua Lai Road from Nimman or the old city.
- Avoid February to April if you can: the smoky season makes the city unpleasant, steam room or not.
Gay massage instead
Chiang Mai has more gay massage shops than saunas, mostly around Santitham, Chang Phueak and Nimman. Two with the best current evidence:
At any male massage shop in Thailand, agree on the service, the price and the tip before you start. Many names on older lists (2 Brothers, Apollo, M2M, Sixty Nine Club and others) have closed, so trust recent reviews over old blog posts.

Is there a gay sauna near Nimman?
