Bangkok's gay sauna scene is one of the most developed in Asia — well-run, affordable, and concentrated around the Silom district. Most venues are open late and combine Thai massage traditions with modern spa facilities.

Babylon Bangkok

Sathorn district · Website: babylonbangkok.com
🏊 Outdoor pool · Gym · Guest rooms · Restaurant · Bar

Babylon is the gold standard of gay saunas in Bangkok — and arguably in Southeast Asia. A resort-scale complex in Sathorn with a dry sauna, steam room, large jacuzzi, outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers, and gym. The private guest rooms ("The Barracks") allow overnight stays.

The massage pavilion offers traditional Thai massage; the on-site restaurant serves Thai and Western food. Tootsie Terrace bar has rooftop views over the Bangkok skyline. Babylon welcomes anyone 18+ regardless of orientation and has a genuinely resort-like, sociable atmosphere — as much a destination in itself as a functional bathhouse.

Chakran Sauna

Near Ari BTS Skytrain station
💵 Entry ~300 THB · Memberships available

A multi-floor venue near the Ari BTS station, slightly north of the main Silom gay area. Facilities include a restaurant and bar on the entrance floor, then sauna and steam rooms, private cabins, darkroom, and maze. The V Club on the exclusive top floor has a whirlpool jacuzzi, plunge pool, sundeck, and rooftop garden — a significant step up in atmosphere.

Weekend themed nights include foam parties and underwear nights. Management focuses on cleanliness and attentive service, which shows in the consistently positive reviews.

R3 Sauna (formerly Ratchada Sauna)

Ratchada neighbourhood

Six contemporary floors in the Ratchada area — further from the Silom gay strip but accessible by BTS and MRT. Modern design aesthetic, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, and private cabins. Distinguishes itself with regular themed events (No Towel Night being the most popular). Men-only, respectful environment.

Farose Sauna

Ramkhamhaeng area

A beloved local institution drawing a genuine mix of Thai regulars and international visitors. The "come-as-you-are" vibe is frequently cited — less polished than Chakran or R3, but more authentically social. Themed party nights run throughout the week.

Silom: Bangkok's Gay District

The Silom area — particularly Silom Soi 2 and Soi 4 — is the heart of Bangkok's gay nightlife. The bars open around 9pm, get busy from 11pm, and many run past 2am. DJ Station (large gay club on Soi 2) and the bars along Soi 4 (Balcony, Telephone, The Stranger) are the main anchors.

Silom Road itself connects to the Sala Daeng BTS station and Si Lom MRT station — easy access from anywhere in the city.

Practical Tips

    • Most saunas provide towel, locker, and slippers on entry — bring flip-flops of your own if you prefer
    • Entry prices are low by European standards (200–500 THB); private rooms and services are extra
    • The best nights for most venues are Thursday through Sunday
    • Grab food at one of the Silom area night markets before heading to the bars — the kitchen logic is very different from Europe
    • Apps like Grindr and Scruff are widely used in Bangkok and can indicate which venues are currently busy
