Welcoming
Bangkok is one of the world's great gay-sauna capitals — a dozen or so men's saunas run across the city, from polished five-floor complexes to small neighbourhood cruise clubs, and a new wave of men-only Japanese onsen has landed on top of them. Be aware that most are sex-on-premises venues (SOPV): the atmosphere is openly cruisy, and a few of the cheapest spots (99-300 THB) are really cruise clubs with a steam room attached rather than full saunas. Entry runs roughly 150-450 THB.
Which one to pick
VCK Cool Space - the upscale flagship, in leafy Ari. Five floors with a pool, gym, steam, dry sauna and a dark maze, plus the rooftop Ikuze onsen (the city's first men-only rooftop onsen). Around 450 THB with a drink; fills from 5pm, busiest at weekends. The best all-rounder for a first visit.
R3 Sauna (ex-Ratchada) - younger Thai crowd on Ratchada Soi 3, known for theme nights (Japanese-underwear Wednesdays, Naked Sundays). 380 THB weekdays / 500 THB weekends.
Farose - a big, sociable maze in Saphan Kwai with a pool, jacuzzi, karaoke and dance room, free drinks and very late hours.
Waterboy Onsen & Sauna - best known for skilled masseurs and a proper onsen soak; a more relaxed, spa-leaning visit.
Sauna Mania and Heaven - smaller, dependable local saunas that round out the scene.
Getting to VCK Cool Space: from BTS Ari walk toward the white bridge, turn left into Soi Ari (about 7 minutes), then left into Alley 4.
