Reel Affirmations LGBTQ+ Film Festival

Reel Affirmations is Washington DC's LGBTQ+ film festival, one of the oldest in the US. It opened on 11 October 1991 at the Biograph Theater in Georgetown with 62 films and about 2,500 people. By 2006 it ran ten days and claimed more than 30,000 admissions. Money trouble after 2009 cut it back, and by 2014 its parent nonprofit One In Ten had handed it to The DC Center for the LGBT Community.

Under the DC Center it has been a short October festival plus monthly Reel Affirmations XTRA screenings. The 2022 edition used E Street Cinema. After two dark years before it, the 30th edition ran 20 to 27 October 2023 with 32 films in person, including at the Eaton Hotel, and 42 online, from 22 countries.

We couldn't find any announcement of a 2024, 2025 or 2026 festival, and the October 2026 dates listed here earlier are not confirmed by the organizers. Check The DC Center's channels before planning a trip around it.
