Reel Affirmations è il festival cinematografico LGBTQ+ di Washington DC — uno dei più antichi degli Stati Uniti, fondato nel 1991. Proietta lungometraggi, documentari e cortometraggi LGBTQ+ da tutto il mondo in più giornate di ottobre, in varie sedi dell'area DC. Reel Affirmations occupa una posizione specifica nel calendario culturale LGBTQ+ della capitale: la data di ottobre, il carattere politico della città e i 30 anni di storia gli danno il peso di un'istituzione culturale consolidata, non di un appuntamento di nicchia. Le edizioni passate hanno proiettato film da decine di Paesi e ospitato Q&A con cineasti dell'intero spettro del cinema queer.
