About this place Hotel Rouge (Kimpton)

Hotel Rouge is Kimpton's Dupont Circle property — a boutique hotel on 16th Street NW that is red-themed throughout, from the lobby to the guest rooms, in a way that is either the best or most memorable design decision in DC hospitality depending on your taste. The Kimpton brand is explicitly LGBTQ+-welcoming: the chain participates in HRC's Corporate Equality Index with a perfect score, trains staff on LGBTQ+ hospitality, and builds inclusion into its culture at every level. The 16th Street location puts Hotel Rouge in an ideal position for Dupont Circle: the gay bars of 17th Street and P Street are a five-minute walk east; Dupont Circle park is two blocks away; the Metro's Red Line stops directly at Dupont Circle. The hotel's Bar Rouge is a neighbourhood cocktail lounge that functions as a social space for both guests and Dupont Circle residents. For gay visitors to Washington DC who want the reliability of a well-run boutique hotel in the heart of the gay neighbourhood, Hotel Rouge is the primary recommendation.

If you want to sleep on plastic sheets with a plastic duvet, insert… I guess this is the right hotel for you. I can’t imagine that this is the standard of a four-star hotel. This is definitely a two star masquerading as a four star based on the quality of the bedding. I had a conversation with the manager and she indicated that was the standard for the hotel.

My stay at the Kimpton Banneker Hotel was pleasant. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The room was tidy, the staff was friendly, and the overall experience met my expectations. I had a comfortable stay and would consider staying here again in the future. Thank you for the hospitality.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. The room was very nice, clean, and large. The service was very friendly. The restaurant and the food was outstanding. The location is very good - but it is still about 7-10 minutes to the closest Metro station.

Great hotel for a short stay in Washington, DC. The location is excellent, you can walk from the hotel to all the sights, such as the White house, all the Memorials, etc. We had a premium twin room. We loved how spacious the room was, that there are wooden floors, no carpet. There’s a fridge in the room. We missed slippers, but requested those at reception. The only downside was the personnel at the bar/restaurant LeSel. They were busy doing nothing and not noticed the guests wanting to order or wanting to pay. The service was really bad. Otherwise would have been a better review.
