Prishtina Pride
About This Event
Prishtina Pride is Kosovo's Pride week and march, held in the capital since 10 October 2017, when a few hundred people marched under heavy police protection and then-president Hashim Thaçi walked with them. It is run by a coalition of local LGBTI and human rights groups, with the Center for Equality and Liberty (CEL) and the Center for Social Group Development among those named as organisers. Kosovo's constitution bans discrimination on sexual orientation, but in 2022 the Assembly rejected a civil code that would have allowed civil unions, and public hostility is real.
The week brings talks, screenings and parties, then a march through central Pristina with a concert at the end. Security is heavy. March with the main group and leave in company.
The 2026 week ran 1 to 5 June, with the 10th parade on 5 June under the banner 'Barazi ose revoltë' (Equality or Revolt), followed by a concert from Adelina Ismaili. Activists, rights groups and foreign ambassadors marched, but no government politicians attended, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti included, a break from earlier years. Turnout was in the hundreds. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
