About This Event
The Folsom Street Fair is the biggest leather and fetish event in the world — a single enormous Sunday at the end of September when a stretch of San Francisco's SoMa district is closed off and given over entirely to kink. In 2026 it falls on Sunday 27 September, from 11am to 6pm, along Folsom Street between 7th and 13th.
It is the climax of San Francisco's Leather Week, and it is exactly what it sounds like: tens of thousands of people, a lot of them in full leather, rubber, uniform or very little at all, filling several blocks of closed street with sound stages, gear vendors, demo areas and public play. It grew out of a neighbourhood fair in the 1980s and became an institution; for much of the leather world it is a pilgrimage.
Entry is free, but there is a suggested gate donation — around $10 to $20 gets you a sticker — and the money, with the beverage sales, goes to local nonprofits; the fair gives away hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. It is run by Folsom Street, the nonprofit formerly called Folsom Street Events. The Saturday night before, the main party, Magnitude, is the other anchor of the weekend.
Practical notes: it is an outdoor street fair, so wear — or do not wear — what works for standing in the sun all afternoon, and bring water and sunscreen. SoMa is central and walkable from downtown and the Castro. Consent and photography etiquette matter here: ask before you shoot. This is a party festival, not a Pride; there is no parade.
