Gay Saunas in Ho Chi Minh City: The Honest 2026 Guide

Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and local and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change

Saigon runs on motorbikes and iced coffee. The roar of scooters never quite stops on the big boulevards, but turn into a hẻm, one of the narrow alleys that branch off every street, and the city drops its voice: a woman grilling pork for cơm tấm on a charcoal brazier, plastic stools outside a café, a glass of cà phê sữa đá sweating on the table while the afternoon rain hammers the tin awnings. That's also where you'll find the city's gay saunas, down alleys, behind plain doors, with motorbike parking out front. The scene is local, cheap and discreet: a handful of real men's saunas, mostly in the old District 10 and Tân Định areas, plus many more men's massage spas that are a different thing altogether.

Legal in one line: sex between men has never been a crime in Vietnam and the age of consent is 16 for everyone. Since 1 January 2015 the Law on Marriage and Family no longer bans same-sex weddings, but the state does not recognise them, and there are no partnerships and no anti-discrimination law. A Gender Affirmation law, drafted in 2023, was taken off the National Assembly agenda in September 2024 and remains stalled. Buying or selling sex is illegal, including in spas.

Real saunas vs massage spas: know which you're walking into

This is the most useful thing to understand before you go. In Saigon, two kinds of men's venue get lumped together as "gay saunas":

    • Saunas (xông hơi): you buy a cheap entry ticket, get a locker, towel and sometimes sandals, and use shared steam rooms, dry saunas, a jacuzzi and darker areas where men meet each other. This guide covers these first.
    • Men's spas (spa nam): you book a massage by the hour with a male therapist, usually in a private room, and you may get the steam room or sauna thrown in. They are not places to meet other customers. Several are listed as saunas on GayOut, so we explain them separately below.

Addresses can be confusing. Since Vietnam's 2025 local-government reform, many listings use new ward names (Tân Định, Hòa Hưng, Sài Gòn, Hiệp Bình) instead of the old district numbers, but taxi drivers and locals still say "Quận 1" or "Quận 10". Give drivers the street address and check the pin.

Reading an address: a slash means an alley. In 457/69 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám, 457 is the alley (hẻm) that leaves the main road at number 457, and 69 is the building inside it; longer addresses such as 456/64 work the same way. On foot these alleys are a maze, so let a Grab driver find the door, and show them the full address in Vietnamese on your phone.

The two areas feel different, too. Tân Định and Đa Kao, in old District 1, are central and used to foreign visitors, with 69Sauna and most of the massage spas. The old District 10 around Hòa Hưng is local, denser and cheaper, home to Galaxy, Bi Sauna Men and Guu Spa, with less English spoken.

    The saunas

69Sauna · 16 Trần Quý Khoách, Tân Định (old District 1)

The most central of the real saunas and, on recent reviews, the most popular: a gay-only sauna over two floors in a residential street near Tân Định, also known as The SixtyNine Zone. Reviewers describe several sauna rooms (wet, dry and a salt-stone sauna), a jacuzzi, a bathing area, a water bar and, upstairs, dark, maze-like rooms and cabins. It was renovated recently, and one 2026 visitor called it "a little hard to find", so use the map pin.

    • Hours: listed as roughly 11:00–22:00 daily (some guides say until 23:00).
    • Price: visitors in 2024 and again in 2026 report about 150,000 VND entry, with discounts for students and younger guests mentioned by several guides.
    • When to go: reviewers say it's busy in the afternoons and at weekends. It has run themed days, such as bear and student days, in the past; ask at the desk.

Galaxy Sauna · 457/69 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám, Hòa Hưng (old District 10)

A local sauna down an alley off the busy Cách Mạng Tháng Tám boulevard. Reviews in spring 2026 praise the cleanliness, the free water and snacks and the friendly staff, and mention a steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi (described as small), massage chairs and darker areas. It's a sauna, not a massage spa.

    • Hours: about 12:00–22:00, per a 2026 local listing; check its Facebook page.
    • Price: reports differ: a May 2026 Vietnamese guide gives 100,000 VND standard, 80,000 VND for students and gym members on weekdays and 120,000 VND at weekends, while 2026 reviewers paid 150,000–200,000 VND and say older customers pay more than younger ones.
    • Know before you go: a couple of 2026 reviewers objected to staff photographing their ID on a personal phone. You can ask what it's for, or use the copy of your passport rather than the original.

Bi Sauna Men · 117b Hòa Hưng (old District 10)

A basic, no-frills local sauna a few minutes from Galaxy, described by Travel Gay as geared towards bi men and their admirers. A November 2025 visitor counted three floors with lockers, a steam room, showers, a pool, two very dark rooms and a massage chair. Reviews in 2026 are mixed: friendly staff and fair prices, but one visitor found it small and cramped, with many steps, and a mostly older crowd.

    • Hours: listed as 12:00–22:00 daily.
    • Price: about 100,000 VND (November 2025 report).
    • When to go: reviewers say afternoons and weekends are busiest, but even a Saturday can be quiet.

Guu Spa · old District 10 (Ward 12)

Despite the name, a real gay sauna, popular with locals in the evenings: steam room, dry sauna, a hot pool, a dark room and a maze, which one guide describes as BDSM-themed. Reviewers say it was recently renovated or moved, and they call it clean, spacious, cheap and, at times, crowded and very dark.

    • Address: listings disagree. GayOut gives 24A Trần Thiện Chánh; another 2025 guide gives 781/D11 Lê Hồng Phong, both in Ward 12 of old District 10. Check the pin or ask a driver for the nearer of the two.
    • Hours: about 12:00–22:00 daily.
    • Price: one reviewer paid 80,000 VND. A reviewer says Tuesday to Thursday evenings are busiest.

Adam Onsen & Spa by NaDam · Hiệp Bình Chánh, Thủ Đức

The venue most international guides call NaDam Spa (once Adam Spa), described by Travel Gay as one of the largest gay saunas in Vietnam. It's styled as a Japanese-Vietnamese bathhouse, with wooden walkways over a koi pond, steam and dry saunas, rain showers, bathing pools with jacuzzi jets, a dark room, a gym and a café-bar, plus massages. It now presents itself as an onsen, and July 2026 reviewers praise the cleanliness, the staff and the "rock sauna". Travel Gay notes it can be dark and crowded.

    • Getting there: it's in the north, about 30 minutes from the centre by taxi. Listings give different street addresses (GayOut: 4/19 Đường số 2, khu phố 3; others: 66 Đường số 16, or off Highway 13), so call ahead (0903 974 955) or use the GayOut map pin.
    • Hours: afternoon to 22:00; some listings say daily from 12:00, others Tuesday to Sunday from 14:00. Check before making the trip.
    • Price: we could not find a current entry price; ask when you call.

For Him Sauna · Tân Phú

A smaller sauna-and-massage venue far out in the western district of Tân Phú, with a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, lockers and massage rooms. A May 2026 Vietnamese guide lists a sauna ticket of about 80,000–100,000 VND, massages from 250,000 VND for 60 minutes and hours of roughly 14:00–22:00. Reviews from 2024–2025 are mixed: complaints about smelly towels, no air conditioning and staff pushing for large tips, and quiet Sunday afternoons. Its address also varies between listings (223 Hiền Vương, Phú Thạnh, or 29 Đường số 18, Tân Quý), so check before you go.

Also listed on GayOut, but unconfirmed: The Dream Sauna (814/1 Sư Vạn Hạnh, old District 10) and Horse Sauna (17/1 Nguyễn Huy Tưởng, Bình Thạnh). Both have only a few reviews, none of which clearly describe a gay sauna, and some describe broken facilities and wet, slippery stairs. We couldn't verify them as gay venues.

Men's massage spas (not cruising venues)

These are massage businesses with male therapists that welcome gay men. Most include free use of a steam room or sauna for massage clients. They're popular, but expect to pay by the treatment, not by entry.

    • TarZan Spa For Men, 12/4B Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, Đa Kao (old District 1): Thai, hot-stone, four-hand and other massages, with free sauna and steam, water and ginger tea for clients. Listed hours vary between about 10:00–22:00 and 11:00–23:00. The phone numbers on its website and on listings differ.
    • Jay Spa, 21 Lý Văn Phúc, Tân Định: the sister spa of Jack Spa, in a quiet residential street. Massage rooms for one to groups, a dry sauna and a 20% discount on Wednesdays, which are busy, so book ahead (reviewers book on WhatsApp). Listed 11:00–23:00. Several 2026 reviewers mention set minimum tips.
    • MB Spa, 146/6 Nguyễn Văn Thủ, Đa Kao: a busy massage spa, listed with a steam room and private rooms. 2026 reviewers mostly praise the clean rooms and friendly staff, but several describe pressure to tip, and one says it takes cash only.
    • Nấm Spa, 456/64 Cao Thắng, Hòa Hưng: a men's day spa, open 12:00–22:00 daily per its website, with massages, a rooftop jacuzzi, steam and dry sauna. Reviewers say prices are as published, with no tip pressure.
    • 3Some Spa, 29/6 Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, Đa Kao, near the zoo (not on GayOut): massages, a steam room and jacuzzi, with a sauna-only ticket of about 120,000 VND according to a May 2026 Vietnamese guide.

In any spa, agree on the price and the length of the session before you start. A tip is customary: ask at the desk what the usual amount is and settle it before you go into the room, so there's no bargaining at the end. You can still set it yourself; you can refuse anything you didn't ask for, and you can always leave.

Closed, moved or unconfirmed: Guyspa on Sư Vạn Hạnh is marked permanently closed. De.soi9 on Đinh Tiên Hoàng, still listed in some English-language guides, was raided by police in January 2019 (see below), and we could not confirm that it is operating. Some guides still list 69Sauna at an older address, 39/3 Phạm Ngọc Thạch (District 3); current listings and reviews all point to 16 Trần Quý Khoách.

Police raids and the sex-work line. Visiting a gay sauna is not illegal, but buying or selling sex is, and Vietnamese police have raided men's spas in this city where staff were selling it. In June 2017 more than 20 people were taken in for questioning at a massage and sauna business off Trần Thiện Chánh in District 10. In April 2018 police caught staff selling sex at Care Spa on Thành Thái, District 10. In December 2018 more than 20 men were caught at a spa on Phạm Ngọc Thạch in District 3, and in January 2019 police raided Soi9 on Đinh Tiên Hoàng in District 1 at night, during opening hours. Reports describe administrative penalties for the businesses rather than criminal charges, but customers were caught up in the raids, and local papers covered them in detail, with photos from inside. In 2026 the city announced inspections of more than 7,000 "higher-risk" businesses, including massage venues, karaoke bars and hotels.

    • Don't pay anyone for sex, and walk away from offers of "special services".
    • Carry a photocopy or phone photo of your passport, and keep the original and your valuables in your hotel safe or your locker.
    • Keep phones away from cameras in shared areas; never photograph other guests.
    • If police arrive, stay calm, don't run, and contact your embassy if you're detained.

    A Saigon afternoon

The saunas are busiest from mid-afternoon into the evening, which fits the rhythm of the city. Start with a broken-rice cơm tấm lunch or a bánh mì from a street cart, then a cà phê sữa đá, strong drip coffee over condensed milk and ice. In the rainy season (roughly May to November) the sky opens most afternoons, which is the perfect time to be in a steam room. Afterwards, go for a bowl of phở and a cold Bia Saigon, then head to the gay and mixed bars of District 1 later in the evening.

    Practical tips

    • Cash: bring Vietnamese dong in small notes. Entry is rarely more than 200,000 VND, but massages, private rooms and tips add up.
    • Getting there: use Grab, Be or Xanh SM for a car or motorbike taxi (Gojek, which older guides mention, left Vietnam in September 2024); several saunas have motorbike parking, sometimes paid. Metro Line 1, opened in December 2024, runs from Bến Thành towards Thủ Đức, but none of the saunas is right on it.
    • What to bring: lockers and towels are provided. Sandals aren't always, so flip-flops help. Shower before using the pools.
    • Language: English can be limited at the local saunas. A few words of Vietnamese and a smile go a long way, and a translation app works for prices.
    • Apps: meet new contacts from dating apps in a busy public place first.
    • Hotels: hotels must register foreign guests' passports with the police, so a visitor may be asked for ID at reception.
    • Health: bring your own condoms and lube. For HIV and STI testing, visitor guides recommend the LGBTQ+-friendly G-Link clinics, which have several branches in the city.
    • Discretion: Saigon is easy-going, but Vietnamese society is still conservative about public affection. Keep it low-key on the street.

    Pride and events

Viet Pride began in Hanoi in 2012, and Pride events are now held in dozens of Vietnamese cities and provinces, including Ho Chi Minh City. At the time of writing, the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City date had not been confirmed, so check Viet Pride's social media. Smaller queer events, such as film nights, drag bingo and parties, are listed on the GayOut Ho Chi Minh City page.

    A few words of Vietnamese

    • Xin chào – hello. Cảm ơn – thank you.
    • Xông hơi – sauna, steam bath (xông khô is dry sauna, xông ướt is the steam room).

    • Tiền boa – tip.
    • Không, cảm ơn – no, thank you.
    • Hẻm – alley; half the addresses in this guide are in one.
    • Một, hai, ba, dzô! – one, two, three, cheers!

Frequently asked questions

Is there a gay sauna in Ho Chi Minh City?

Yes, several. The best-reviewed in 2026 are 69Sauna at 16 Trần Quý Khoách in Tân Định (old District 1), Galaxy Sauna at 457/69 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám and Bi Sauna Men at 117b Hòa Hưng (both in the old District 10 area), Guu Spa, also in old District 10, and NaDam, now listed as Adam Onsen and Spa, a larger onsen-style venue in Hiệp Bình Chánh, Thủ Đức, about 30 minutes north of the centre by taxi.

How much does a gay sauna cost in Saigon?

Entry is cheap by international standards. Visitors in 2024 to 2026 report about 150,000 VND at 69Sauna, roughly 100,000 to 200,000 VND at Galaxy depending on the day and, reportedly, your age, about 100,000 VND at Bi Sauna Men and about 80,000 VND at Guu Spa. Massages, private rooms and tips cost extra. Bring cash and check prices at the desk.

What is the difference between a gay sauna and a men's spa in Saigon?

A gay sauna sells an entry ticket to shared steam rooms, dry saunas, jacuzzis and dark areas where men meet each other. A men's spa, such as TarZan, Jay Spa, MB Spa or Nấm Spa, sells massages by the hour from male therapists and may include a steam room for clients. They are not cruising venues, and recent reviewers report pressure to tip at some of them.

Is it safe to visit a gay sauna in Ho Chi Minh City?

Generally yes for adults visiting legal saunas, but be careful. Buying or selling sex is illegal in Vietnam, and police raided several men's spas in the city between 2017 and 2019 where staff sold sex. In 2026 the city announced inspections of thousands of higher-risk businesses, including massage venues. Never pay for sex, carry a copy of your passport, and keep valuables in your locker.

When is Pride in Ho Chi Minh City?

Viet Pride has been held in Vietnam since 2012, with events in dozens of cities, including Ho Chi Minh City. At the time of writing, the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City date had not been confirmed, so check Viet Pride's official social media before planning a trip around it.
