As soon as you approach the bustling city of Ghent via the E17 or E40, the impressive, modern building of the Van der Valk Hotel is hard to miss. This striking tower, situated right next to the Ghelamco Arena, immediately exudes a certain grandeur from the outside and promises a luxurious stay. Although the hotel is located slightly outside the historic heart of the city, this proves to be a true relief for travelers arriving by car, thanks in part to the spacious underground parking garage and excellent accessibility. Upon entering the imposing lobby, you are immediately embraced by a warm, stylish ambiance featuring refined design elements, atmospheric lighting, and comfortable seating areas. Check-in proceeds remarkably smoothly, and the reception staff takes ample time to give you a warm welcome, immediately setting the tone for an extremely relaxed stay.
This line of comfort and hospitality is effortlessly extended to the hotel rooms. As soon as the room door opens, the spaciousness and tasteful, contemporary interior immediately catch the eye. The room is equipped with absolutely everything a modern traveler could wish for, dominated by a large, luxurious bed that guarantees an excellent night's sleep thanks to the premium mattresses and soft pillows. Large windows not only provide an abundance of natural light but often also offer a fascinating panoramic view of the city skyline or the dynamic lines of the highways. The bathroom feels like a private spa, with a wonderfully spacious rain shower, luxury toiletries, and in many rooms, even a generous bathtub. Everything is meticulously cared for and spotlessly clean, making the room truly feel like a peaceful, warm haven after a busy day full of impressions. However, what truly sets this hotel apart from the rest are the exquisite facilities, with the Skybar on the top floor as the absolute crown jewel. A visit to this bar at sunset is an absolute must; with a perfectly mixed cocktail in hand, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the sparkling lights of Ghent. For those who prefer physical relaxation, the wellness and fitness area on the ninth floor is a luxurious surprise. The spa offers various saunas and beautifully decorated relaxation rooms where you can completely let the hustle and bustle of everyday life slip away. The hotel also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of culinary offerings. Dinner at Restaurant Cocotte is an experience in itself, with the menu combining classic dishes with surprising, seasonal creations. The quality of the fresh ingredients and the refined presentation on the plate are well-received, while the attentive staff ensures impeccable service and is happy to advise on a matching wine.
A morning at this hotel is rarely a disappointment, as the famous Van der Valk breakfast buffet in Ghent surpasses even the highest expectations. The enormous variety of freshly baked rolls, luxurious toppings, egg dishes prepared à la minute, fresh fruit, and healthy juices ensures that you actually run out of time to taste everything. It is the perfect, energetic start to a new day, whether you plan to explore Ghent's enchanting city centre via the nearby bus or tram connections, or need to hit the road again immediately for business. All in all, Van der Valk Hotel Ghent is a magnificent destination that effortlessly combines uncomplicated pampering with business efficiency. The synthesis of luxurious comfort, high-end gastronomy, the unique atmosphere of the Skybar, and familiar warm hospitality makes this hotel an absolute must for anyone seeking a carefree, grandiose stay just outside the hustle and bustle of the old city.
