Xenon Kino

The cinema visit to the Xenon Cinema in Berlin was actually quite pleasant – however, the positive impression was severely marred by an employee right at the entrance. He didn't greet us as a group at all; instead of a quick "hello" or any kind of welcome, I was ignored and had to ask several times just to be allowed in. When we finally got to the ticket counter, the employee neither spoke nor really looked at us. Instead, I was simply stared at without a word. When I asked about tickets, he again didn't respond with a single word, and only after a second inquiry did I get a completely unenthusiastic "if you want." The entire interaction felt passive, distant, and unpleasantly unfriendly. Especially in a cinema that welcomes many children, families, and regular patrons, a minimum level of customer service should be a given. A simple greeting and respectful treatment would suffice. Instead, it felt like we were intruding, not welcome. A real shame – a cinema visit shouldn't begin like this.

Places like this are slowly disappearing in Berlin. I like the film selection and the quaint charm; I'm happy to pay for it.

I love this small cinema, the atmosphere, the unique film selection, and the friendly welcome. I hope it stays around for a long time; I've known it for over 20 years and am always delighted by it.

It was my first time at this cinema, and I really enjoyed the film, especially with the director and lead actor in attendance!
