Meaning "Ship Islet," the island served as one of the main bases of the Swedish Navy from the 17th century onward. As its military role declined during the 20th century, the island was transformed into a center for museums, cultural institutions, and artistic spaces. Its peaceful walking paths make it an excellent place to enjoy the waterfront and the distinctive urban scenery of Stockholm at a relaxed pace.
