Leonardo Hotel Plymouth

The staff were helpful and friendly, the hotel was immaculately clean from top to bottom and the room was spacious. Very good value for a city centre stay.

A⁴⁴⁶ good place for food and drinks

We had a lovely stay overall and would happily return to this hotel when next visiting Plymouth. The location is excellent, and although our room was a little on the small side, it was spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate for a couple of nights. We also found the quick and easy check-out very convenient. Before checking in, we arrived early and popped into reception to ask whether we could leave our bags while we explored the city. The receptionist was busy with otger customers so a gentleman, who we believe may have been a bartender, kindly approached us and offered to help. He checked whether our room was ready, offered to keep our bags safe, and was cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable. He also gave us some helpful tips about the local area. His customer service was excellent and made a really positive first impression. Sadly, this was followed by a very different experience when we returned to check in. The receptionist, Rachel, came across as extremely unprofessional. She appeared upset, left the reception area in a rather dramatic way, leaving her colleague to deal with the waiting customers alone, and then returned and resumed checking people in in a very abrupt manner. She called out “next” without making eye contact or engaging with customers, and rushed through the process without speaking, only heavy sniffing. apart from giving us our key cards, she didnt really speak to us. As this was our first visit, I asked where we needed to go. Rachel simply pointed towards the lift and called “next” to the following customer, without offering any further explanation or assistance. I appreciate that staff can have difficult days, and I don't know what may have been happening behind the scenes, but the way we were treated made us feel unwelcome and was not the standard of customer service we would expect. It was such a shame because the gentleman who helped us earlier was fantastic, the hotel itself was well located, and our room was lovely and clean. With a more welcoming and professional check-in experience, this would have been an even better stay.

Perfectly located. Very good breakfast. The rooms are clean and spacious. I recommend this hotel.
