I had a lovely stay at Premier Inn. Good location. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep, and the in-room facilities were just right, providing everything I needed for a comfortable stay. However, the TV could definitely do with an update, and the parking charge for paying guests is disgraceful. It really lets the experience down when you're already paying to stay at the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, particularly the comfort of the bed, but a few improvements would make the experience much better.
Very disappointing restaurant experience – serious improvements needed We stayed at Premier Inn Plymouth City Centre (Lockyers Quay) on 17 October 2026, having travelled from the Midlands for a sensitive family occasion concerning my late brother's ashes. Firstly, the hotel accommodation and hotel staff were absolutely fine. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was completely unacceptable. Our party of eight attended dinner at approximately 6pm. The restaurant was extremely quiet, with only two other diners visible, yet the food and service were very poor. My chicken curry had watery sauce, very little chicken and overcooked rice. My wife's chicken appeared undercooked and rubbery, while my daughter's katsu curry contained cold chicken, overcooked rice and excessively thick sauce. Another family member waited 20–30 minutes longer than everyone else for a burger. Not once did a member of staff check whether our meals were satisfactory. I even had to approach the bar myself to request the bill. Despite having personally booked and paid for five rooms and eight meal deals, I was questioned at our table, in front of my wife, about individual room numbers and payments, even after showing my receipt. I found this extremely embarrassing and unnecessary. Later that evening, my wife and I returned for a final drink in remembrance of my brother. We were served at last orders without warning that we would be asked to leave approximately ten minutes later because the doors were being locked. Breakfast the following morning was even worse. Hot food was served from what resembled a small trolley beneath heat lamps, with serving trays repeatedly empty. My daughter-in-law found frozen pancakes, and another guest told us she had waited approximately 30 minutes for hash browns. There appeared to be sufficient staff, but little effective organisation or supervision. I do not blame the younger, inexperienced employees; proper training and direction are management responsibilities. As a company director who regularly stays at Premier Inn hotels throughout the UK, I can honestly say this was the worst restaurant experience I have encountered at one of their hotels. The hotel itself was fine, but the restaurant operation requires urgent management attention. We paid £223.92 for eight meal deals, and I have submitted a formal complaint requesting a full refund. Very disappointing, particularly given the circumstances of our family visit. I sincerely hope improvements are made so other guests do not experience the same problems.
The room was clean and tidy, Kerry on the desk was nothing but helpful and a delight! She went the extra mile to bring a smile!
Its a slightly below average premier inn with an above average cost. Somehow the room was really warm, I stayed for two nights where the daytime temperature hit ~20c, but the room didn't drop below 25c at any point. There was a fan but this doesn't fix the problem. The condition of the room was very dated, a bit unclean and tired. Water pressure in the bathroom was lacking, water was hot but not the best shower due to the pressure. Bed was clean but I did find a carpet beetle larva crawling on it, I would think twice about putting any fabrics on the floor. The chair also looked like something had been dripped/spilled on it. The big issue with this hotel is the parking. The car park is used by both the public and hotel guests, guests are the only people allowed to park overnight. If you buy parking at the desk I think (not 100% sure) the ticket only lasts until 2-3pm the next day. I'm not sure how much they charge at the desk but the outside machine will cost £9.90 for a full 24hrs. This is extortionate and a reason I will look else where next time. Overall if I had paid £40 a night I'd be ok with the experience, but paying double that I'd expect something better.
Location was fab right on the harbour with plenty of options to eat just across the bridge on the other side of the harbour with lovely music and cafes ect. Lovely walk also around the harbour and into the city centre. Rooms were clean and well looked after. We had no issues staying at this hotel. We stayed for 2 nights.
Receptionist Katie B so helpful kind and friendly a credit to you
Booked two nights and only managed one. The evening meal and breakfast were both excellent — genuinely good food, well cooked, and the staff were friendly. The bed itself was comfortable and would have been a solid night’s sleep. The problem was the room. Someone had left the thermostat at 25°C, and by the time we got in it was already stifling. The fan controls are on a touchscreen, which is fine in daylight and almost useless in the dark at 3am when you’re half asleep and just want the heat off. We couldn’t work it out, slept badly, and left a day early because we were too tired to stay. The drive home was an hour and I was barely safe to do it. Food and bed: great. Room climate and controls: not. If the temperature had been sensible we’d have stayed both nights.
it was a very disappointing experience. The hotel common parts were dirty, the toilet in the room didn't work, the toilets in the restaurant were dirty. The restaurant had no butter at breakfast and the hot drinks machine was broken. the car park which had to be crossed in the rain to go to the restaurant was in poor repair and potentially dangerous for a disabled person.
Hotel is very nice and in a good location. Staff in hotel and restaurant are friendly. Good service and very nice food in the restaurant as well.
Katie B gave anazing service, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu 😋
