Hilton Buenos Aires

AWESOME !!!

Amazing experience,

Very disappointing experience at this hotel, borderline scamming/ should be illegal practices. First they charge an inflated rate: the rate you book is in USD but then they charge including a commission in local currency. Whatever you book in USD account for an approximate 10% increase on the final bill. Then they refused to award me my Hilton points/stay/nights because I checked in after midnight... Funny thing is that while I was there I repeatedly asked them about it and they repeatedly promised they will award the points later and is a temporary glitch in the system. I found out they were lying to me all this time once I came back home. The hotel itself is very dated and the breakfast is poor. Executive lounge very basic.

This review is for the el Faro restaurant which is in the lobby area of Hilton hotel. We stopped here for lunch. Nice clean location in the lobby area which was nice as well. Clean table with sparkling glasses and clean cutlery. Pleasant servers. The restaurant wss at perhaps 25% capacity. There was only a buffet. It looked ok. Ordered two sparkling water. After some delay they arrived with no sparkle. Ordered another still no sparkle. I was thirsty so drank half a glass, then a different server came by. Ordered another one after again explaining the flat water situation. He was able to get us several delicious sparkling waters and explaining that the soda dispenser was malfunctioning. At the buffet the gent handing us the plates was pleasant and well dressed although I did notice him drumming his fingers in the middle of the stack of plates. I made sure he didnt pass that one to us. Macaroni and cheese, brocolli, cauliflower, several meats with gravy, a a few salads etc. were on offer. All looked quite good so had a bit of each. Vegetables were very overcooked, salads good but only iceburg lettuce and a tomato or two. French fries covered in gravy were mushy and not really edible. The last dish on the buffet line was a fruit salad, which was superb. It included blueberries, pineapple, kiwi fruit, mango, papaya etc. All perfectly ripe and delicious. I had several good size plates of this. The desserts next to the fruit salad looked grim and stale but my judgement could have been clouded by the other items I did try. Just before leaving to go to the ferry, I ordered another sparkling water from a third server and it was flat. It tasted enough like water that I drank it. Unless the rest of the hotel is indeed great as the reviews suggest then most of the reviews must be fake. This review is written while sitting in the large, comfortable waiting area for the Buquebus to Montevideo. Oh, almost forgot, lunch was $110.00 canadian.

I attended a conference. The venue in Puerto Madero was very nice. The hotel was very nice. The conference rooms were spacious, with good visibility, although in some rooms there was some background noise from the adjacent room.

Everything was excellent... top-notch...
