Mercure Manaus is a mid-range Accor chain hotel on Avenida Mário Ypiranga Monteiro in Adrianópolis, a commercial and residential district a few kilometres from the old centre and the Teatro Amazonas. It is a mainstream gay-friendly hotel, not a gay venue, and it draws a mix of business travellers and tourists using the city as a jumping-off point for Amazon trips. Reviews are solid (4.4 from more than 1,500), and the brand standards mean few surprises. Adrianópolis has shopping centres and restaurants close by. For the historic port area and the opera house you will want a taxi or ride-hail, since the distance and the heat make walking hard work.

The breakfast staff is very friendly. They are polite and attentive. They make us feel at home. The hotel needs renovations in the rooms, and the breakfast area still has a lot of room for improvement. Compared to other Mercure hotels like the one in Belém or São Bernardo do Campo, I consider it one or two steps below...
