Venezianos (Vene Pub Café) was a Cidade Baixa pub and café with drag shows and some 26 years of uninterrupted business at Rua Joaquim Nabuco 397. On Saturday 29 August 2026 it was shut by municipal inspectors during a show by Cassandra Calabouço, in a dispute over its activity classification; a protest on 31 August, backed by the Parada Livre organisers and the NGO Somos, demanded its reopening ('O Venê não vai fechar!'). We could not confirm a reopening by late October 2026. Check @venepubcafe on Instagram before you go.

Despite the small space, the music is good and the atmosphere is cool, great for going with friends, especially since there's a street next door with numerous bars and food options, called a "travessa".
