Casa Mosquito is a boutique hotel with nine suites in a 1940s villa on the hill between Copacabana and Ipanema, on Rua Saint Roman. It has a rooftop pool and terrace bar with a view of the Christ, in-room spa treatments and French owners, and has long been popular with gay travellers. There is no lift.
Farme de Amoedo is about eight minutes downhill on foot. Rates run roughly US$250-400 a night. Google reviewers rate it 4.4. The walk back up is steep, so many guests take a car at night.
