I'm typically pretty nervous about ordering matcha out, but smallSugar did not disappoint! We had a fantastic matcha & a hibiscus tea. We worked a while on the patio. The atmosphere is pleasant. The staff is delightful.

I LOVE SmallSugr! This is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always top notch, the atmosphere is beautiful, the pastries and coffees are amazing and delicious. Downsides: no parking; well, teensy parking lot that maybe 4 vehicles can fit in. I usually park in the parking deck behind the aloft hotel; that gives me slightly more than 1 mile hike. Also SmallSugr is a little pricy if you’re watching your pennies (think very bourgeoisie)! But they don’t expect you to leave a tip, so that’s nice.

Very good food, definitely coming back here again! 😋

The mushroom tartine was delicious, but the service was even better! Also love the variety and creativity of their menu. Will definitely be back!

Started with the person taking orders, didn’t know what kind of pastry options were available, and could not identify them on the rack, I ordered a brewed coffee, it was full of coffee grinds, I didn’t expect that a brew coffee would be brewed in my cup with no filter. It took a normal amount of time to get my sandwich, but it took even more time to get a brewed coffee, it’s just filled up in the back, the woman working the coffee station was unintelligible when asked, and for God’s sake, let us pour our own milk in our coffee. I ordered a peach danish, which was good, the beef sandwich was overly sauced, under flavored, barely mediocre, the bread was better than the ingredients. Maybe an off day, but I would never come back.

Stopped in to grab a matcha latte and try a pastry and was NOT disappointed! The chai monkey bread is out of this world and the matcha latte was perfect. The owner pays their employees a living wage, reflected in the prices, so they do not accept gratuity. I fully support paying a little more for quality food/service knowing the employees can pay their bills. What really sold me to try this place out was the owners response to someone leaving a review complaining about drag queens. Truly feels good to spend my money with people who support the marginalized communities within our community. I will be back!

The best chocolate croissant I've ever had. Went back to get some for the family, and they agreed.

This place proves that you can deliver awesome food consistently, year after year. I love this place and wish I could have it at home. Makes visiting Columbia that much nicer. Keep up the great work small sugar team, you have some thing special!!!

This place is spectacular. Stopped driving back from Myrtle Beach to TN and it was sooo worth the stop! Incredible monkey bread, roast beef sando, and sweet potato bowl and delicious coffee. Great atmosphere! LOVE! Can’t wait to come back.
