The honest summary: If you're looking for cruising in Columbus, the answer is a bathhouse, not a park. Club Columbus is open 24 hours, a rare thing in a mid-size American city in 2026. Around it are a leather bar, a couple of patio bars with gear nights, and the apps. We don't publish directions to outdoor spots, and below we explain why.
Club Columbus: the 24-hour bathhouse
Club Columbus is a members-only men's bathhouse at 795 W 5th Ave, near the Grandview edge of the city. It belongs to The Clubs chain and is open around the clock. Out x Out's 2026 listing describes a seasonal outdoor heated pool, a whirlpool, a steam room, a dry sauna, a circuit gym, two lounges, a media room, private rooms and free parking, plus summer Sunday cookouts. Bring photo ID; you sign up for membership at the desk. Weekend nights and the hours after bar close are the busiest times. Some older listings put it on West Town Street; that address is out of date.
Bars with a cruisy edge
- The Toolbox Saloon (744 Frebis Ave, south side). The city's leather and bear bar: a dive with a patio, and the busiest room on gear nights.
- AWOL (49 Parsons Ave, Olde Towne East). A military-themed leather and bear dive with a patio.
- Axis Nightclub (775 N High St, Short North). The big dance club. On weekends the crowd from here moves on to the bathhouse after close.
- Exile, which some guides still call the city's old leather bar, is not operating. We couldn't find a current listing.
- Steel Mill Tavern on Parsons Avenue closed in 2025.
- Black Sheep (1124 N High St) stopped regular bar service in January 2026.

Apps
Day to day, most of the action happens on the apps. Grindr and Scruff are busy across the Short North and the campus area, and Sniffies is widely used in Ohio. As anywhere, meet in a public place first and tell a friend where you're going.
Why we don't list parks
Online cruising directories name several Columbus parks, including Goodale Park and the Berliner sports complex. Those listings come from one network of scraped sites, they're undated, and no local press or independent source backs them up. Goodale Park is also where Pride, ComFest and family events happen. Columbus city parks close at 11pm and are patrolled. We don't send readers to them.
The law, briefly
Ohio's public indecency statute (ORC 2907.09) makes exposure or sexual activity where others may see it a misdemeanour. Penalties go up with prior convictions and become far more serious if a minor could see it. Meeting someone is legal. Sex anywhere public is not. Same-sex relationships and marriage are fully legal in Ohio.
