Gay Columbus 2026

Columbus has one of the most underrated gay scenes in the Midwest. The Short North Arts District—a walkable strip of galleries, restaurants, and bars along High Street north of downtown—is the gay hub, and it's genuinely excellent.

Gay Bars — Short North

• Axis Nightclub (775 N High Street) — Columbus's main gay dance club. It has multiple rooms, regular themed nights, drag shows, and late hours. This is the anchor of the Short North gay scene.
• Union Café (782 N High Street) — A gay bar and restaurant. The food's good, the atmosphere welcoming, and it's a solid early-evening option before the clubs fill up.
• Slammer — A leather and fetish bar with bear nights, pool tables, and a more alternative crowd.
• Exile — A gay bar with regular events and a neighborhood feel. Locals like it.

Beyond Short North

  Crescendo — This dance club is also in the Short North cluster. It's pop-oriented, accessible, and draws a younger crowd.

Columbus Pride

Columbus Pride is in June. It's one of the Midwest's largest, drawing hundreds of thousands to the Short North and downtown. The parade moves along High Street; the festival fills the Short North. Columbus has a large Ohio State University population and a progressive urban core despite the surrounding state politics.
