What reviewers say

Many visitors praise Slammers for its consistently good pizza and friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with some bartenders being noted as particularly helpful. However, some reviewers found the staff unfriendly, the cover charge ridiculous, and the overall environment not inviting, contradicting the positive experiences of others.

About this place Slammers

Slammers on North High Street is Columbus's leather and bear bar — the venue that serves the leather, bear, and kink communities within the Short North's otherwise broadly mainstream gay bar scene. The bar operates in the tradition of the American leather bar: welcoming to the community it serves, low-pretension, and functioning as a genuine local for the leather-community regulars who have been coming for years alongside the visitors and the curious. The North High Street location puts it within walking distance of Axis and Havana, making it an easy addition to a Short North evening for those whose interests align with what Slammers offers. Special events including leather nights, bear nights, and community fundraisers run throughout the year. The bar's presence in the Short North is part of what makes Columbus's gay scene genuinely diverse rather than just large — the fact that a leather bar can sustain itself in the same district as a major dance club and a video bar reflects the breadth of the community that Pride's 750,000 attendees represent.

The absolute sweetest staff! I had a wonderful time here, and it had a good amount of people without being too crowded. Drinks were amazing as well.

Spectacular as always. My friends had no idea was bringing pizza to the impromptu kickback and could not stop talking about how good it was. Thank you for serving the community, one pie at a time, happy pride!

As a beautiful black lesbian, I’ve been going to slammers for almost 20 years, and it used to be SO diverse and welcoming. Not anymore. The last time I came here (April 19, 2024) there was an incident and my life was put on the line, not one intervened. I left the establishment in tears and traumatized. Fast forward to last night(June 5,2026), I went after a work event. I was sitting at a table, 2 white gay men ask if they can sit with me, I say yes as I am sitting by the table by myself. They sit down, don’t introduce themselves, no big deal. I allow them to mingle amongst themselves until a 3rd white gay man comes over, they start mingling amongst themselves. I politely ask them to move tables when an altercation begins. I am forced out of my table due to 3 against one. ONLY WOC(only 2 others poc in the whole place). Although people watched, no one stepped in. This time I asked to speak to the manager, bajé mentioned she can talk to them but made and excuse as to why, because the gays are pretty much taking over, etc etc. I am not surprised at the response, just disappointed that we no longer have a safe establishment for lesbians .
