Gay bars in Milwaukee (checked October 2026)

Milwaukee's LGBTQ+ bars are all in one place: Walker's Point, just south of downtown, on and around South 2nd Street between National and Greenfield Avenues. Locals call the circuit the "Fruit Loop". All eight bars below appear on Visit Milwaukee's LGBTQ+ bar list and in the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project's directory in 2026, and we found no closure news for any of them.

2nd Street and National Avenue

La Cage

LaCage NiteClub at 801 S 2nd St is the city's main gay nightclub: a bar side, a dance floor and drag shows. It was briefly rebranded LVL in 2018 and went back to La Cage in 2019. It hosted the Queer Prom after-party in May 2026. The dance floor fills late on Fridays and Saturdays.

Fluid

Fluid Milwaukee at 819 S 2nd St is a neighbourhood cocktail bar with a back patio and fire pit, and a good first stop.

Walker's Pint

Walker's Pint at 818 S 2nd St is one of the few lesbian bars left in the US. The crowd is mixed, there's karaoke, and it opens at 4pm Tuesday to Sunday.

D.I.X.

D.I.X. at 739 S 1st St is the drag bar, open Thursday to Sunday from 8pm, with its own shows and Drag Race viewing parties.

POP

POP at 124 W National Ave is a bar and restaurant with the strip's busiest calendar: drag bingo, karaoke, showtune Sundays, King of Drag and weekend drag brunch. Book for brunch.

Kruz

Kruz at 354 E National Ave is a men's bar for regulars, with pool and conversation and no dance floor. It opens at 3pm and is closed Sundays.

Greenfield Avenue and south

Harbor Room

Harbor Room at 117 E Greenfield Ave is Milwaukee's Levi and leather bar. It opened in 2000, has been run by Brian Kohler and Robert Murphy since 2021, and marked 25 years in July 2025. The crowd is mostly men.

Woody's

Woody's at 1579 S 2nd St is the gay sports bar, with games on TV and darts. Street parking is easy.

Elsewhere

Art Bar in Riverwest is gay-owned with a mixed crowd and rotating art shows. It's a good north-side alternative, but it isn't a gay bar.

Closed

This Is It! on East Wells Street, Wisconsin's oldest gay bar (1968), closed on 9 March 2025. Hamburger Mary's closed in 2024; a planned reopening at 235 S 2nd St hadn't happened by October 2026. Club Icon is in Kenosha, not Milwaukee.

Practical tips

Fridays and Saturdays are the big nights. Bars close at 2am, 2:30am on Fridays and Saturdays. The Hop streetcar doesn't reach Walker's Point, so walk from the Third Ward or take a rideshare.
