La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Salem

We enjoyed our stay; breakfast was great & our beds were comfortable. Staff was very helpful. I have no complaints. (Sorry, I responded to a different over-night hotel previously.)

Our room smelled so bad, like mildew and stale cig smoke. The AC unit was dripping wet with water pooled on top and everything was slightly damp. The shower leaked and the toilet lid was dirty. Beds were lumpy and the sheets were piled/rough.

This is a must read before staying at this property !!!!!!! Update 9/9 craziness ! still no answer from property. Please read to avoid nightmare experience. Update 8/3 Have escalated by messaging the Franchisee of this property and will continue to update daily. Small justice received a refund from Priceline for this which I have attached a photo proof ,they are going to be investigating this with there operations team and the property can suffer consequences for lying especially in Oregon, which protects people who stay at hotels. Update 8/2 Have been in contact and received update from corporate apologizing for this and said there on field operations will be following up with the incident as this is just lunacy. Thank you Wyndham for your firm resolve to have this looked into. Update 8/1actual insanity continues they are doubling down on these are AI generated images or fake from somewhere else so I’m adding photos to disprove this. These photos are from there own website along with the photo we took which is the wood headboard which is disgusting and that’s where the cockroach was traumatic and to have this experience happen after is actual insanity. Update 7/31/26 Just wanted to add Vector Control for Marion county phone number call when you see roaches at this location (503) 588-5621 . There is a case open against them. Run from this hotel!! Beware update actual insanity at this location Christina is now saying are photos are fake from another location. I guess she forgets every photo taken now a days has a time stamp and gps location which is right on the dot her hotel. Meadow was witness to us bringing the physical cockroach into the lobby and leaving it on the desk and thank you so much to Sharon for reaching out as a witness ! She was in line behind us and saw the whole interaction. I’ve been in communication with state officials and local. Vector came out and notified them they need to do pest control but will be doing another visit as the tech was only there 10 minutes and didn’t evaluate the issue. Also Food and lodging will be by this location to do random inspections for the next 6 months.. 7/29 Update *****Just wow Spoke with Priceline and the manger Christina is lying through her teeth and is generally a person that should not be involved in hospitality. She is stating they have no cockroaches after being shown proof. I have posted the pictures from the room. Room number was 312 dont stay in it if you wanna remain healthy. My Fiancé has been sick since leaving the property and I have contacted an attorney….Be Extremly careful staying here cockroaches were in the room we stayed in and they denied our refund. The manager Christina has repeatedly lied and tried to manipulate the situation saying she was never shown proof of the cockroach. We showed her video and pictures and even brought the cockroach down to the lobby trapped in a glass …. The other manager in the afternoon saw and staff and said how disgusting it was. Yet 0 refund authorized and refused to put anything in writing. I have made contact with corporate who will escalate the situation and local food and lodging authorities who will be inspecting the property as well.

The building is pretty old as well as the bedding, carpets and the room, specifically elevators. The beds were very comfortable, but the pillows were too old and overused! The shower curtain is not sufficient to prevent the water going out. After every shower a water pool formed behind the toilet bowl. When it evaporates, that causes extra humidity in the room. The lighting in parking lot is not enough at all. For security purposes there should be more lights in the parking lot. I could not even see the ground at night while walking if it is uneven or flat!!! Parking lot does not have a separation from other buildings or public. In the dark it does not give a secure image together with the homeless sleeping in the parking lot between the buildings. The cleaning ladies start early in the morning by chatting in the corridor, in front of the rooms which we woke up and heard every single word they said! Rooms were very clean and the amenities were plenty and good quality.

Friendly staff! Clean Rooms.

Clean, spacious and comfortable room. The location was convenient to all areas of Salem. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when in the Salem area.

Pros: Dog and cat friendly, decent location, comfortable beds, great AC, nice fitness center, and the breakfast looked fairly substantial (I did not partake as I am vegan so I bring my own). Cons: Be careful to have plenty of funds available on your card and ask for a receipt, as they put several unexplained holds on my account totaling around 500 dollars. Upon check-out I was told the holds were released - however a day after checkout my bank still has them as pending. If money were tight this could have been a disaster for me. I did not like my room location, especially with pets. I was close to the lobby and could hear everything - all the people walking by, especially during breakfast service. This was hard on my dog, and distracting while working remotely on calls in my room. I would have preferred more privacy and quiet. I also did not like that there are no side doors which you can exit, and also return with your key card. You can only exit the side doors. This made it more stressful for walking my dog having to to take her through a busy lobby for every potty break.

The hotel itself was very clean, and the staff were kind, helpful, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the comfort of the bed. The mattress was extremely firm, and I could feel the springs through it, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. For comparison, even an inexpensive memory foam mattress I purchased from Walmart for my nephew was significantly more comfortable. The pillows were also very flat and firm, which added to the discomfort. At times, the bed honestly felt closer to sleeping on a box spring than a standard hotel mattress. Overall, I was happy with the cleanliness of the hotel and the service from the staff, but I would strongly recommend that management consider upgrading the mattresses and pillows. A more comfortable bed would have made a significant difference in the overall experience.
