The Astro Motel

This is an overly expensive hotel that's right in the center of lots of crime. They told us the room was free of animals per our allergies which was a lie we saw blanketed with room fresheners. The police had to come with 3 men fighting each other where their office immediately closed the door at 10:30 AM.

I am obsessed with this hotel! I couldn’t believe how adorably curated the room and lounge were. It’s so obvious they put a lot of thought and care into this place. Betty checked me in and was so friendly and welcoming! When I mentioned I was sad to miss happy hour she even poured me a glass of wine after a long travel day. I only wish I could have stayed longer and taken advantage of the fire pit and bike rentals. Appreciated the pre check in flow and guest messaging too!

This place is THE place. If you want ease and comfort, come here. Beautiful, comfortable, and clean rooms, beautiful and lush grounds with amazing sculptures and best of all! Beautiful people work here. Tip top customer service and outstanding hospitality. So caring, kind and accommodating. The manager, Betty, bends over backwards to make sure her customers are happy. The aesthetic here is really not something you will find in this price range. It is so tastefully and interestingly decorated and refined down to the last detail. It’s really a rare jewel. So perfect. We can’t wait til we get to come back!

The Astro Hotel is quite simply one of the coziest, most charming hotels we’ve stayed at in a long time — and the photos don’t do it justice. What was once a classic motel has been thoughtfully restored into a boutique gem, and the in-person experience takes it to an entirely different level. The location is ideal for exploring the Wine Country without committing to a single winery — perfectly situated for day trips to both Sonoma and Healdsburg, with easy access to tastings and restaurants throughout the region. We were in town for the Healdsburg Jazz Festival, and the hotel checked every box, just a short drive from the festivities. But what truly set this stay apart was the hospitality. Staff member Betty was exceptional — from helping us secure our reservation by phone to coming in on her day off to personally ensure our comfort. That kind of care is rare and deeply appreciated. The little touches made it unforgettable: picking fresh fruit from the trees in the courtyard, plucking sprigs of mint for morning tea, sinking into the beautifully appointed lounge, and waking up to a complimentary breakfast. Every detail felt intentional and warm. As someone from New Orleans — where hospitality is practically a religion — I don’t say this lightly: The Astro Hotel comes in a very close second. 😄 This was one of our best getaways yet, short as it was. We haven’t stopped talking about it or recommending it to others. A restored motel turned boutique retreat — if you’re looking for a genuine, soul-filling alternative to big chain hotels, this is it!!

We unexpectedly ended up at The Astro after arriving at our VRBO and finding it already occupied by another couple. It was a stressful way to start our weekend, but Betty completely turned the experience around. She was so kind, welcoming, and compassionate after hearing what had happened. She even found a way to give us a small discount, which meant so much after an unexpected expense. The hotel itself was adorable! It was very clean, comfortable, and had so much character. We also loved that it was next to the park, which made the location feel peaceful and inviting. Betty's kindness and the hotel's charm completely changed our weekend. We are so grateful for the warm welcome and would absolutely stay here again.

Hotel was great as a base to explore Sonoma. The room was clean and comfy and the bathroom looked recently renovated. I also appreciated the breakfast options, in particular the tasty granola form the Spinster Sisters. Also want to give a shoutout to all the staff which were super friendly and ensured we had a great stay.

We stayed at The Astro over Memorial Day weekend and had so much fun! The room was clean and very nicely decorated. As weird as it might sound the bathroom was the coolest! It had a humongous open shower with 2 different types of shower heads. The room where they serve breakfast was just a short walk through a small courtyard that had really cool decorations. Everything was decorated so nicely! There’s even a nice park right next door with a cool bridge and pond that you can hear the bullfrogs doing bullfrog things at night. The staff were also all very friendly. Don’t get me started on Betty.. She was THE BEST!!!

Quaint, hip, comfy, customer friendly. Also pet friendly! Across from a park and close to downtown. Staff are excellent. The lounge has tea and coffee and delicious granola and yogurt, fruit, etc. Just super!

Wonderful stay at the Astro in Santa Rosa. Great customer service, very quiet atmosphere, and beautiful, tasteful decor throughout the property. The fruit trees and landscaping were a highlight ....perfect for plant lovers like me. It felt very artistic with all of the neat sculptures and paintings.

Fantastic motel! We stayed here & appreciated the SUPER clean accomodations, thoughtful ammenities & delicious continental breakfast. Check in/out was a breeze too. We can’t wait to come back!
