Casuarina Free Beach

Casuarina Free Beach sits inside the Casuarina Coastal Reserve about twenty minutes north of the Darwin CBD, and it has been the Northern Territory's only official clothing-optional beach since 1976. The long sandy stretch is backed by monsoon vine forest and low cliffs, and the far north-eastern end is the section that has long drawn gay and bi men. It stays relaxed and low-key rather than commercial, with no facilities on the sand itself, so bring water, shade and sun protection. Note the tropical marine stinger season from roughly October to May, when swimming is unsafe; the cooler dry-season months are the time to visit.
