Gay Hotel Club Torso

Horrible, horrible, horrible... This is a hotel to absolutely avoid if you want to avoid a traumatic experience. The rooms smell musty, certainly due to a lack of occupancy... The air conditioning is broken, the hot water for a shower is dispensed slowly... The water heater keeps cutting out... Breakfast consists of coffee diluted in a small container, cheap jam that only half-fills jars of the Bonne Maman brand, and day-old bread. Ask for a towel for your sun lounger... €20. Ask for your bath towels to be changed: €2.50. The cramped conditions with the other rooms make you think of housing projects in the 93rd district. The swimming pool is a cold, dirty paddling pool. The jacuzzi? A bathtub for two people. The highlight of the trip. The hotel is empty. 10:21

A pleasant place to relax and meet new people. Everything is very informal. You can have your privacy and yet be right in the thick of things in just a few steps. The atmosphere is very friendly, even though you've only known the men for a short time. The location is a bit secluded, but still not too far from the action. We'd gladly come back if the opportunity arises.

Nothing really bad, but nothing totally good. It’s small, quiet ( too quiet for me ) 12 bungalow , only 6 occupied during my stay for fetish pride , where all others gay resorts were full… ( that’s why I was here… ) + Bungalow very confortables and clean, Playroom in the basement - cold Pool , jacuzzi bubbles on request only, sunbeds too close to bungalows, not easy to get a good sun exposition . not enough space around the pool. The employee stay all the day seated at the bar, leaving the customer feeling spied on. Breakfast too light , bad coffee … A red flag… ask 2,20€ at the check out for the pool towel !!! Really ? with more than 200€ a night for the stay ? Never saw a resort(gay or nor… ) in maspalomas who ask a fee for pool towel. Value for money is finally not good enough . Other resorts give more for the same price and even less.

We stayed at Club Torso for two weeks in October. Since our flight was slightly delayed and check-in at Club Torso is only possible until 7 pm (unless you book the transfer), we called ahead to let them know we'd be late. The man on the phone said he'd pass the information on to the resort. We arrived at 7:50 pm, and when one of the two staff members opened the door, he rudely told us that if we'd arrived 10 minutes later, he wouldn't have been there and we would have been left standing outside. He handed us the room key, pointed towards the room, and told us to check in with his colleague the next morning before disappearing out the door. The room is very spartan and uninspired. There's only one electrical outlet at the head of the bed, which is very inconvenient. We didn't have a power strip, so thankfully we brought our own extension cord, which allowed us to use our phones and everything else on the bedside table (two metal bins). ... The staff consists of two bartenders working in shifts and two cleaning ladies (also working in shifts). Several times during our two-week stay, a woman (probably the manager) comes around the facility, puts up various prohibition signs, and then leaves again (no smoking by the pool, shower before swimming, etc.). The pool, unsurprisingly, isn't heated and is therefore freezing cold. To activate the whirlpool, you have to beg the bartender to turn it on, and this has to be done every single time, as the switch is behind the bar. Breakfast is very basic, with hardly any choice and very little of what you get. We didn't dare drink the coffee because it's kept in insulated carafes. The sauna is tiny and old, and the darkroom is completely run-down and very small. If you want pool towels, you have to pay a €20 deposit per towel, and each time you change them, they charge €2.50 per towel – you won't find that in any hotel. If you want to order a drink or something to eat at the bar, you have to use your room code and a tray on the counter. As soon as the order is submitted, a bell rings behind the bar, and the bartender starts preparing frozen food in the microwave. A pleasant chat is therefore impossible. It's no wonder nobody wants to linger at the bar. There were hardly any guests (even though it's Fetish Week on the island). I spoke with those who were there about the Torso, and they agreed with us that it's completely outdated and far too expensive for what it offers. There are plenty of gay-only resorts on the island that are cheaper and better. I could write much more, but what's more important is that the owners of the Torso take a good look at themselves and consider making the Torso more gay-friendly again. After all, it was a respected gay-only resort many years ago.

We expected more... Unfortunately, the website promises more than it delivers. During Pride, the club wasn't even half full – consequently, there was hardly anything going on, and no entertainment whatsoever. The pool isn't heated, but at least there's a warm whirlpool. The gym closes at 8 p.m., so working out around the clock isn't possible. The service feels rather impersonal. Not all guests receive the advertised welcome drink, and there's no staff on site outside of the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone planning to arrive earlier or later should definitely check in advance. Breakfast was disappointing: you have to cook your own eggs, the cheese and cold cuts are put in the refrigerator the night before, and some of the vegetables were already moldy. We found it rather odd that a deposit is charged for old and stained pool towels, and there's an additional cleaning fee for exchanging them – at the price, this should be included. On the positive side, the resort is generally well-maintained and in a quiet location. It's about a 15-minute walk to the Jumbo Center. Overall: a quiet resort, but significantly below expectations – especially regarding service and breakfast, there's room for improvement.

Fabulous one week stay here, rooms are perfect and all located around a lovely pool and jacuzzi Everything is clean and meticulously looked after by Dennis and Adam who make you feel so welcome The food selection is great too, all cooked fresh on site and better than the local restaurants especially Dennis’s Bitter Balls ;) Thank you for looking after us guys xx

Yes, I can recommend it.

First of all a warm welcome was given. Check in takes a bit long (30min). The staff is nice. The complex is smaller than you might think but it has a cosy feeling. Most people are relaxed so you can chill most of the time. The breakfast is a bit hectic as it has self service in a very small area where you cannot be with more than 2 people at the same time. This is especially difficult as you are expected to cook/boil your eggs in that area. What takes time. Who wants to make his own breakfast in a hotel? The pool is heated. And the jacuzzi is nice. The rooms are regularly cleaned and fresh towel upon request. The only negative was that our room (402), has a big humidity problem in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. The bottom of the walls were all pealing off. You see it from the terrace in the kitchen. Especially in the bedroom I did not like that. It should not be. I do not know what the condition of the other apartments is but this one is to avoid booking. I have doubts about the darkroom basement. I have not seen people going there. Allover a nice place to stay. But at least apt 402 needs to be dealt with regarding the humidity problem.

First time at this cozy, friendly and comfortable complex. Adam and Patrick will welcome you and help you always with a smile. 12 bungalows nice decorated, wgite fresh, clean towels ( not like some other places where you get blue or grey that after one use smells like a wet dog) warm pool and jacuzzi, A/C basement playroom. breakfast every morning and you can arrange transfer back and from the airport. Since they are small is quite hard to book. So plan ahead! Definitely coming back! 😘😘😘🙁
