Abbey Park

Abbey Park is one of Leicester's largest and best-known Victorian parks, straddling the River Soar just north of the city centre. Alongside its formal gardens, boating lake and ruins it has historically appeared in gay guides as a daytime and evening cruising area, particularly around the towpath and quieter wooded edges. The park is also the main site of Leicester Pride each September, so it is a genuinely LGBTQ-associated green space. Because it is a busy family park with staff and event use, any activity here is discreet and shared with the general public. Standard outdoor-safety advice applies: keep to accessible areas, be aware of surroundings, avoid isolated spots after dark, and remember that while being gay is fully legal in the UK, public sexual activity is not.
