The hostel itself is simply lovely. A quite, family run business, very clean and with very many, strict rules, which however helped to make the place as quiet and clean as it is. 4-bed rooms were small enough, and just enough space for luggage. But the heating was not great and the room got very cold during the day (2 walls were facing outwards and we had 3 windows). The mattresses were all foam and very soft. There was free coffee in the kitchen and plenty space in the fridge. The next Tatget is about 15 minutes by foot, but there is a quite expensive grocery store just 2 minutes away as well as several take outs. Good working WiFi connection. The neighbour hood was also very quiet and polite (people greet strangers on the street), so it felt very save. The nearest metro station is only a 5 minute walk away.

I had a really great stay at this hostel and can highly recommend it 😊 The location is excellent – very close to the metro station 🚇, making it quick and easy to get to the city center. The hostel itself is spacious, well-organized, and everything is clearly labeled 🏷️, so it’s very intuitive and easy to navigate. Communication was outstanding 💬 – all my questions were answered quickly, clearly, and in a very friendly way. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout my stay 🙌 On top of that, the price is very affordable 💸, especially considering the quality of the service and facilities. Honestly, there is nothing to complain about 👍 I truly enjoyed my stay here 😄 and would definitely come back. Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

They charged me for accommodation after I canceled and never refunded me after a long email chain are redirecting me and saying to me in person I would be charged.

Very clean and organized hostel. Felt right at home. Check in was clear and simple. Quiet neighborhood and full of free amenities such as tea and coffee. Highly recommend!

Was great overall. Only its a old building and one guest was drunk smelling snoring who annoyed

Homestel Boston is such a cozy, comfortable, and clean hostel! My stay there was great. My friend and I were warmly welcomed by the Brazilian volunteer, Luís — he helped us out, gave us tips and info about Boston, and even invited us to some parties.

Great old style Boston Hostel/Hotel. The room was small but very clean and neat. The bed nice. Late arrival, but no issues with communication and password to enter. For our single night stay it was perfect. Would recommend it, if you don't need fancy, or TV.

Easy walk UMass red line MBTA train, easy walk to Carson swimmable Beach, easy walk to steak at Banshee on Dorchester Ave, or excellent bento box, etc, Japanese at M&J Teriyaki. REMARKABLY QUIET, considering the number of guests! Friendly people, shared supplied kitchen, several clean bathrooms, AC,off street parking with arrangement.YOU WILL NOT BEAT THIS PRICE FOR ALL THIS VALUE. look forward to coming back for all of this! Stayed again 2025 was even better!

For those on a tight budget, this is a good option—cheap and in a decent location, just a few minutes' walk from the subway exit. There are few people returning to the hotel from the subway station at night, and it's dark outside. I walked around at night twice during my two nights there, and although it was very dark and I could see a few people on the street, thankfully I didn't encounter any problems. The staff were responsive and helpful in resolving my issues. The building is an older type, so the soundproofing isn't great. I could hear sounds from the kitchen upstairs while sleeping in my room, and I could also hear some noise if someone used the bathroom without closing the door. They provide earplugs, which might help a bit. Unless you're a very light sleeper, it shouldn't be a big problem. There were many rules posted in the room, and at first, I was a little worried that the owner might be a difficult person. However, after two nights, I found it to be okay. Since the building isn't very soundproof, you need to be quiet, and since it's a hostel, there are rules to follow. However, some people still make a bit of noise at night. The subway to tourist attractions is quick, which I found very convenient. I wanted to stay another night, but unfortunately, I missed it, and I probably won't come to Boston again. However, I would recommend it. It's a good place to sleep, convenient, safe, and has all-female rooms, which meets my needs.

At first I was weirded out of notes and warnings everywhere but soon place felt like home. Not the most convenient, AC was only in the room and in the room you have no privacy at all, best place you can put your stuff was under the bed. Door lock was very noisy. However it was only me and other guy on the whole floor and it felt like home, stayed for 3 days

This was the quietest hostel I've ever been to. It's a triplex home in a residential area. I booked a shared room, but I mostly had it to myself. In fact, I doubt there was anyone else on the entire floor. The bathrooms and kitchen were always really clean. I never saw any staff either. And they didn't reply to emails. But they kept it clean and did deliver on something I asked for. The beds and pillows were really ergonomic. The place felt high-end because of how clean and organized everything was. The paintings and small sculptures around the house were cute. Free oatmeal, tea, coffee. Plates, cups, bowls, microwave, and oven were there for cooking food. Free sunscreen and towel too. The location was really convenient. Only a few subway stops from the center of Boston. It's on a really quiet residential street, so it felt a little scary walking there at night with noone around. But the surrounding houses looked beautiful from the window. It was all really secure. Very quiet in the night, I had a good sleep. That's a great benefit of not being right in the center of the city. It felt a tad expensive at first, but since I ended up with the room mostly to myself it ended up being a killer deal. This provided a great base for a memorable trip to the Boston area. I had a nice, solitary stay, and I will miss it.
