⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Stars If every hotel stay were like this one, traveling would be a lot less stressful. The hotel was spotless, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and everything just seemed to work the way it’s supposed to. A special shoutout to Lauren, who somehow managed to be an amazing receptionist and bartender at the same time. Whether checking guests in or serving drinks, she made everyone feel welcome and taken care of. The breakfast was great, and I have to give credit where it’s due—the orange juice and pineapple were so good I may have gone back for seconds… and possibly thirds. Parking was easy and convenient, which is a bigger deal than most travelers realize until they’re circling a parking lot at midnight wondering where life went wrong. Overall, Hotel Joaquin delivered five-star service from start to finish. I’ll definitely be staying here again and recommending it to friends. 10/10—would happily drink the orange juice again.

Nice little spot with great pool area and some rooms with nice views. There are a few minor issues that still need to be ironed out.

We had a phenomenal stay! The location is great if you want to be slightly away from crowds but still within walking distance to the main area of town. The hotel is beautiful and unique and perfect for anyone who loves a 70s vibe. The service was fantastic, the food and drinks were very good, and the pool was so peaceful and relaxing. We loved everything about our stay!

I have been a long time fan- 6+ years however this is not the Hotel Joaquin I have stayed at over the years. I don't know who the new owners are but it's obvious that expense reduction is the #1 goal. They don't even offer a welcome drink anymore (if you bring it up, they passively say oh yeah, do you want a banana liquor cocktail- I'm pretty sure the answer is no to everyone). They use to offer you drink of choice. Not anymore. No more LeLabo in the rooms. Now it's a knockoff Santal scent. They used to deliver coffee to your room. Not anymore. Now there's a holiday inn setup in the lobby. While you get your semi-warm coffee, the night shift employee with hand you a religious card which is very uncomfortable. There's always a female employee working on her laptop sitting in the lobby and never willing to help. They do not clean your room after you check in. Never made my bed. I had a shattered glass on my nightstand, they just left it. My body wash was completely empty which of course I didn't realize until it was too late and I was in the middle of the shower. The record collection is about a third of what it was. Not to mention probably about 90% of the records are completely empty. Oh, and then breakfast, this was heartbreaking. It used to be so good. Eggs with kale, roasted potatoes, avocado. Now it's terrible. They have a generic quiche that they heat up in the microwave or a yogurt dish. I can't enough about how terrible the breakfast is. It used to be one of my favorite things. There are now notes everywhere- in your bathroom, at the table asking for tips. I'm not even sure you can call this establishment Hotel Joaquin. Did I mention that U booked a stay for my wedding anniversary and they didn't even notify me and canceled it because they sold out the property to an Abercrombie Kids photoshoot? Yeah, walked up to check in and they said sorry, you don't have a reservation anymore. That is after 2 flights and a car rental. Not sure what hotel this is anymore..

We just got back from Laguna Beach and this place was amazing! All around from the lovely rooms to the friendly staff. Check-in was super easy as well as check-out. The location of this hotel was great. Just north of Main Beach away from the crowds which we liked. Breakfast was served everyday with a good variety of food. The pool was nice and quiet and heated as well. You are only a 2 minute walk from the ocean (Shaw's Cove). The staff was amazing. It was a smaller hotel so the service was quick and friendly. Thank you for an amazing stay (Katie, Grant, Jake, Andre, Lauren, Patrick) and the rest of the staff we didn''t meet. Top notch and appreciate the smiles and friendly service. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

The previous good reviews are misleading as the motel was just bought out less than a week ago. I strongly would not recommend this motel at this time. Do not pay over $175 for a room if you do. We paid over $600 for a roadside motel with no hot water, disorganization (they lost our original check in sheet with credit card information), no soap in the room, a room right next to an alleyway door that slammed shut and kept us up (Thalia #4). I will say the staff was friendly, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the other downsides overshadowed the positives and the hotel offered to discount us through our third party a little bit, still putting the reservation to $500+. The property looks charming, the execution is lacking. I would consider this motel endearing if it was a fraction of the cost. This was not worth the exorbitant price.

We just arrived back home from our stay at Hotel Joaquin and are already missing it. We found the hotel to be in great proximity to beaches and restaurants. We did have a mid-size SUV (BMW X3 for reference) that was easy to find parking on-site, although anything bigger may be a bit more difficult. The hotel feels incredibly secluded, even though you are next to PCH (the noise was not terrible and did not disrupt our sleep). Jack was wonderful with any request we had. We are already looking at when we can return!

Really great weekend getaway. Short walk to the pretty Shaw cove where we saw a starfish! Cool, exclusive feeling pool and lounge. Great drinks, felt very easy. Lovely heated saltwater pool. Free parking onsite. Free e-bike rentals were a must to explore town. Will definitely be coming back!

The vibe here is amazing. Staff were great, rooms were awesome, pool was epic, location is beautiful. Thank you Matthew at the front desk for making such a memorable trip!
