Theodore Wirth Park is Minneapolis' biggest green space, and the wooded trails around the Quaking Bog and Birch Pond have been its documented cruising corner for decades. Warm months only, daytime into evening — this is trail cruising in real Minnesota woods.
Know before you go: Park Police patrol the parkway lots, and the park closes at midnight. Stay off the main jogging loops, mind the mosquitoes in July, and be discreet — the bog boardwalk itself draws birdwatchers.

Huge carpet mats of sphagnum…but no pitcher plants or sundews I could see. Likely tucked into the deep harder to access regions of the bog
Still being reconstructed but was not walking in deep mud like the last time I went.
Great spot to enjoy with the one you love.
I really miss coming here. I want this place to be protected and cherished as long as possible. Please be respectful to the environment here. There's something so incredibly sacred and spiritual here... Sometimes I used to just hike here for hours. If you need some peace and quiet or spiritual respite, this is the place to go. Thinking about it now makes me want to cry. A very beautiful spirit lives here. Be nice to it!
