Discoteka Magazine Launch Party: Tertulia Art and Conversation

This event will be a launch party for DiscoTeka Magazine, a self-published magazine celebrating and highlighting queer women of color in the underground music industry and their contributions toward the music scene — creating spaces where self-expression feels safe, accessible, and welcoming. This event will be a showcase of the magazine, with the magazine available for purchase and viewing for the first time. The event will also include a DJ set by local Latina DJs, spaces for dancing and mingling and showcases of local Latinx photographers, designers and creatives.
About the artist
Aline Chercover (AKA Barrio Girlz) is a Portland-based multi-media artist, graphic designer, and illustrator, whose work is driven by culture and centers on identity and femininity. Their practice spans illustration, editorial design, and self-directed publishing, including my independently produced magazine and years of work released under my brand, Barrio Girlz. Their work aims to document and uplift often-overlooked voices, while building spaces where representation feels unapologetic and real.
