About this place Erakor Island Resort

Erakor Island Resort is a mainstream resort on a small island in Erakor Lagoon, just outside Port Vila on Efate, reached by a short boat shuttle from the mainland. Accommodation is in bungalows, and the lagoon is used for swimming and snorkelling. It is gay-friendly in the general sense, not a gay resort. Google reviewers give it 4.5 from about 310 reviews. Vanuatu does not criminalise same-sex relations, but there is no gay scene and attitudes are conservative. Resort life is where couples will be most comfortable. Factor in the shuttle schedule if you plan evenings in town.

We had a wonderful experience at Erakor for our honeymoon! The room was clean and spacious with a beautiful view. The food was delicious and the watersports ( paddle board & kayak) were free! We enjoyed snorkeling around the island and finding lots of starfish!

The rooms are great, good size and layout with ocean views, deck and hot tub. Nice place to chill. Bed is ok, not great. Grounds are well kept. There’s a small pool and slide. The trampoline is in need of replacing so don’t expect the kids to use it. Snorkeling here is really mediocre unfortunately. Protected lagoon but little marine life. Locals net fishing don’t help matters. There’s SUP and kayaks to paddle around the island. It would be ideal to have the donuts (retired it seems) or sailing catamaran for more varied water play even with an upcharge. Staff are lovely. There’s a good support from the tour desk but they upcharge quite a bit. Best to book yourself directly with a driver. The restaurant and bar is really disappointing. It is the weak point of the resort. Overall it’s too pricey when you factor in the food/drinks cost. The quality of food and drink is fitting for a resort at half the cost. Breakfast has some selection but again the quality is below par. The service is in need of better management and training. A shame as this place could score much higher.

Beautiful island, we stayed in the 4 bedroom villas and had a great time here, perfect for families.

Don't expect perfection in everything but the staff, location and rooms mire than make up for it. One of the few places in Port Vila where you can swim and snorkel in crystal clear water from your resort. After a day you feel like like you belong to the family, staff is so incredibly helpful and kind

Better service than across the lagoon.
