Where to start. We stayed here in December and our first impression as we walked in was that this was not a particularly well kept or clean hotel. Our biggest issue came however when our oven exploded in my face midway through us cooking. Management couldn’t have been more useless and unprofessional. Managers threatened to kick us out if we didn’t pay immediately to have the whole oven refitted and replaced. Management above them (likely the owners) were even worse and refused to even comprehend that the hot oven glass exploding in my face could possibly be anyone but our own fault. Oven was 16 years old and tired to charge us $900 for a brand new one!! Didn’t move us to an alternative room until the next day and left us to clean the thousands of shards of glass up off the floor and carpet in our room ourselves. Aside from all of that, the kitchenettes were ill equipped and mainly included mismatched and missing items (we had varying quality and quantity of items between our 1st and 2nd room). Beds were extremely uncomfortable and our aircon unit leaked dirty water all over our balcony in our first room. The only redeeming feature of this hotel were the reception staff who were actually friendly and helpful. 3.1 average stars for this place is generous to say the least. I haven’t EVER had a worse experience at a hotel. Don’t bother staying here, it’s not worth it (even if your oven doesn’t explode in your face).
Always a pleasure to stay at APX World Square. The location can't be beat, the value for money stay is another attraction and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The rooms are ideal for a stay in Sydney. Ample space including a lounge, work desk, kitchenette, bathroom, TV, comfy bed and a balcony view of the citylife. Everything is nearby it's easier to ask what is not nearby. Generally safe but exercise caution if arriving back to your hotel later on in the night. 24 hour secured entrance will give you peace of mind. Walking is easy during the day but bear in mind it could get crowded during the day and in the early evening. Also being based in the middle of the CBD, be cautious of cars, bicycles and e-bikes illegally mounting the footpath. Choice and choices of food available surrounding the hotel. If you can't decide, the World Square complex offers plenty of food choices under one roof. Enjoy the swimming pool, exercise room and the view from the balcony.
Great location. Housekeeping seems to be an issue. Booked this property for work and do shifts so my office hours arent the standard 9-5. Had the "Do Not Disturb" sign yet housekeeping still decided to clean the room. (Would appreciate the sign being adhered to especially if Im resting in preparation for nightshift) Removed the "Do Not Disturb" sign while at work during my stay and messaged the property for a room clean (the mobile number was found on the "BRB sign" at reception) and came back to no housekeeping. Cant win and very frustrating. Will likely avoid for personal and business trips in future.
Apartment was clean and spacious with everything we needed for our stay. Bed was comfy. Balcony was great. Excellent value for money. Location was perfect, central to transport and within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Felt safe walking in the area of an evening. 24 hour reception for convenience. Room key access to elevator gave added secure feel to room.
Reception are a pack of you know what's. I suppose you know what good customer service is when things go wrong. Mistake with booking after long travel but they did not care. Lost payment without getting room. Reception dude doing weird spitting thing at you and I don't know if he understands much english. Asked to speak to manager but he is like a mythical creature. Have stayed here previously and that goodwill was not rewarded. Also found cleaners really rude. Previously just saying hello to them in the hallway is met with rudeness. Would not recommend that hotel based on their lack of customer service and refusal to resolve issues with repeat customers.
