Reykjavik Bear (RVKBear) ist das jährliche Bären-Wochenende Islands, das Anfang September stattfindet. Es hat Bears on Ice abgelöst, das etwa 15 Jahre lang stattfand, und die Organisatoren beschreiben es als ein intimes Treffen für Passinhaber, nicht als ein großes offenes Festival. Es erhält ein Kulturstipendium der Stadt Reykjavík.
Das Wochenende umfasst drei Abendveranstaltungen: eine Willkommensparty, die "Friday Top-Off!" Party und den Mr. Reykjavík Bear Wettbewerb und Show. Tagsüber gibt es Gruppenreisen, darunter eine Golden Circle Tour, ein Besuch in einem Geothermalbad in der Sky Lagoon oder Blue Lagoon und kulinarische Spaziergänge in der Stadt. Brunch und Merchandise sind optionale Extras. Die meiste Action findet im Zentrum von 101 statt.

Angaben zufolge findet die Ausgabe 2026 vom 3. bis 6. September statt. Vulkanische Aktivität auf der Reykjanes-Halbinsel zwang zu Planänderungen, und die Blue Lagoon-Tour wurde als Priorität gestrichen. Ormur gewann Mr. Reykjavík Bear 2026 und Karl wurde Zweiter. Die Organisatoren haben den 2. bis 5. September 2027 angekündigt und sagen, dass das Programm noch finalisiert wird.

Reykjavik is a small city and hotels fill up quickly, especially during the event. Book your accommodation well in advance.
Volcanic Activity
While volcanic activity is part of Iceland's nature and has not impacted daily life or travel, it has influenced some festival planning. The Blue Lagoon is not being prioritized as the main lagoon visit this year as a precaution.
Airport Transfer Discount
Flybus offers a 10% discount on transfers between Keflavik International Airport and Reykjavik for RVKBear guests. Details are provided via email after booking.
Dietary Needs
If you have special dietary requirements, notify the organizers by emailing growl@reykjavikbear.is. They will do their best to accommodate preferences, but severe allergies or intolerances should be communicated in advance.
