Gay Ramat Gan: The Honest 2026 Guide

The honest summary: Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv's eastern neighbour with about 172,000 people, has no gay bar, no gay club, no gay sauna and no gay beach. It does have the municipal LGBTQ+ centre on Bialik Street, a Pride Week every June, and a top score in Israel's Pride Index for city services. Tel Aviv's gay bars and saunas are a few light-rail stops away. Most queer visitors use Ramat Gan as a place to sleep or work, and go out in Tel Aviv.

Legal in one line: Same-sex relations have been legal in Israel since 1988, workplace discrimination has been banned since 1992, same-sex marriages performed abroad have been registered since a 2006 Supreme Court ruling, and there is still no civil marriage of any kind inside Israel.

About the city
Ramat Gan was founded in 1921 and became a city in 1950. It sits in the Tel Aviv District, directly east of the Ayalon highway, and it is small (about 12 km²) and densely built. The skyline you see from Tel Aviv is mostly the Diamond Exchange district, or "the Bursa": office towers, the diamond exchange itself, and the Moshe Aviv Tower, at 235 m one of the tallest buildings in Israel. Bialik Street is the main street for cafés and restaurants. The city also has the Ramat Gan National Park (about 190 hectares), the Safari zoo, Bar-Ilan University and Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer, Israel's largest hospital. The mayor since 2018 is Carmel Shama-Hacohen.

Where the scene actually is
Not in a bar. We searched English and Hebrew sources (Mako, ice.co.il, ynet, local Ramat Gan news sites, Travel Gay, misterb&b) and Google Maps, and found no gay bar, gay club or regular gay party night in Ramat Gan in 2025 or 2026. Google results for "gay bar Ramat Gan" either point to Tel Aviv venues or to ordinary places in Ramat Gan. One of them, Kermeet on Sderot HaYeled, is a burger bar and gastropub. Our own older listing called it a gay bar. That was wrong, and we have removed it.

What Ramat Gan has instead is municipal. The city runs an LGBTQ+ community department, and since September 2022 it has run the Ramat Gan LGBTQ+ Center (in Hebrew, HaMerkaz HaGa'eh shel Ramat Gan). It is on the first floor of Beit HaEzrach at Bialik 42, next to City Hall. The centre publishes a monthly programme of groups, talks and social evenings, including queer karaoke. Its summer 2026 schedule was still being advertised in August. Contact is through WhatsApp on 052-522-8028; check the current programme before turning up.

Queer nights in Ramat Gan are mostly city events held in mainstream venues. During Pride Week 2026 there was a drag night, "Gaava BeAhava" ("Pride in Love"), at Café Shoshana, Bialik 46, on 4 June. These are one-off events, not a weekly line.

Pride & Events

Pride in Ramat Gan
Ramat Gan doesn't hold a Tel Aviv-style parade. Its Pride is a festival programme run by the municipality. Mako covered a large city Pride event on 27 May 2018, and in June 2019 there was an event near the Diamond Exchange. In 2025 the main event was a "Love and Pride" happening at Rambam Square on 19 June, with smaller events on 17 and 21 June. In 2026 the city ran a full Pride Week from 31 May to 6 June, followed by Wednesday events through June. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked. Tel Aviv Pride, usually in early or mid June, is the big one, and most people go to both.

In the Aguda's Pride Index, which scores municipalities on LGBTQ+ services and funding, Ramat Gan was ranked first among large cities in 2025. In 2026 it shared first place on the maximum 110 points with Tel Aviv and Rishon LeZion. The index measures city services; it doesn't measure nightlife.

The city's politics are mostly supportive. In 2019, after Pride flags were burned, the mayor promised to put up ten flags for every one destroyed. Around 2020, when couples in one neighbourhood were harassed over flags on their balconies, the city hung more flags in the area. In 2023 the press reported that a local shop owner who protested the city's Pride flags had been fined by the municipality. Parts of Ramat Gan border Bnei Brak, an ultra-Orthodox city, and the mood there is far more conservative.

Going out: Tel Aviv, a few stops away
For bars, clubs and saunas you go to Tel Aviv. The Red Line light rail, open since August 2023, has two stations on Jabotinsky Road on the Ramat Gan–Bnei Brak border: Abba Hillel, by the Diamond Exchange, and Bialik. From Abba Hillel it is one stop west to Arlozorov and a few more to Carlebach and Allenby, close to the centre of Tel Aviv's gay nightlife. Callas on Menachem Begin Road and Mash Central on Allenby Street are the city's two dedicated gay bars. Tel Aviv also has the only gay saunas in central Israel, among them HAMAM and Sauna Club Tel Aviv. See our Tel Aviv-Yafo guide for current details.

Beaches: Ramat Gan is inland. The gay beach of the area is Hilton Beach in Tel Aviv.

Cruising

Cruising: we don't list a cruising area in Ramat Gan. We found no two current, independent sources for one, and that includes the National Park.

Closed or changed: gone but still Googled
- Kermeet Bar (Sderot HaYeled 18): a mainstream burger bar and gastropub, not a gay bar, despite old listings.
- "Barbie" and Evita: an older version of this page sent Ramat Gan visitors to these as Tel Aviv gay bars. Evita closed in 2016, and there is no current gay bar called Barbie. Tel Aviv's current gay bars are Callas and Mash Central.
- "The Hilton is in Ramat Gan": it isn't. The Hilton Tel Aviv is on the Tel Aviv seafront next to Hilton Beach.
- Metro Spa (Ben Gurion Road 22): rents rooms by the hour. It is not a hotel, and we don't list it as one.

Practical tips
- Shabbat: the light rail, trains and most buses stop from Friday afternoon until Saturday evening. The city runs free Shabbat buses (Sababus), and Tel Aviv's free weekend line 710 also stops in Ramat Gan. Taxis run all weekend but cost more.
- Ben Gurion Airport is about 20 km away, roughly 30 minutes by car outside rush hour.
- Tel Aviv Savidor Center train station is just across the Ayalon from the Diamond Exchange district, which makes the Bursa hotels handy for trains to Haifa, Jerusalem and the airport.
- Install the Home Front Command app and learn where the nearest shelter is. Every hotel has one.
- Same-sex couples holding hands draw little attention in central Ramat Gan or the Bursa. Be more discreet near the Bnei Brak border and in religious neighbourhoods.

Where to Stay

Where to stay
Ramat Gan's hotels are business hotels, and most cost less than Tel Aviv's. Hotel Indigo Tel Aviv – Diamond District and Leonardo Plaza City Tower are in the Bursa, close to the Red Line and Savidor station. Roxon Urban is on Krinitzi Street in the centre. Kfar Maccabiah Hotel is in the sports complex in the south of the city. Dekel Guesthouse is a small owner-run option. All of them are mainstream and none is a gay hotel. Many Google results for "suites in Ramat Gan" are rooms rented by the hour, so check before you book.

A few words in Hebrew

- HaMerkaz HaGa'eh (המרכז הגאה): the LGBTQ+ centre
- Ga'eh / Ge'ah (גאה): gay or queer (literally "proud")

Preguntas frecuentes

A nivel municipal, mucho.
