Bois de Montmaur

The Bois de Montmaur is a large wooded park on the northern edge of Montpellier, near the Agropolis campus and the old water tower (chateau d'eau). Its shaded paths have long been one of the city's best-known outdoor gay cruising spots (lieux de drague), busiest in the late afternoon and evening. France is legally very LGBTQ+-friendly, but cruising here is discreet and unofficial rather than organised: stay on public paths, respect other park users and the natural setting, and remember that public sexual activity remains a public-order offence. Come with a friend after dark and keep valuables secure. Easily reached from the centre by tram/bus toward Agropolis.
