El Grosvenor Hotel Rugby

This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. The biggest issue was the bedding and the complete lack of hygiene standards. The sheets clearly had not been changed after the previous guests. They were covered in hair, including pubic hair, which is absolutely unacceptable and creates a serious risk of cross-contamination. On another bed, there were visible food stains left behind. There was no smell or feeling of freshness whatsoever — only the impression that the room had not been properly cleaned in a very long time. The mattresses were completely destroyed to the point where you could physically feel the metal springs digging into your body while trying to sleep. Getting any rest was almost impossible. The entire hotel felt filthy and neglected. The hallways looked dirty and stained, as if they had not been cleaned for weeks. The rooms themselves were damaged, depressing, and extremely uncomfortable, giving more of a feeling of an abandoned shelter than a hotel. We did not even use the shower because it looked old, destroyed, and unhygienic. We genuinely doubted whether it had been cleaned at all. Overall, the cleanliness and maintenance standards of this hotel are completely unacceptable, and it is shocking that guests are allowed to stay in such conditions.

Came to my room before 11am checkout time which delayed me and then at 11 opened the door no knocking just walked straight in! Shocking no matter how cheap the price is.

Stayed for 2 nights and received 2 parking tickets from the hotel car park, despite it being clearly advertised as free parking on Booking.com. This is completely misleading. I have made multiple attempts to contact the hotel to help resolve or appeal the tickets and have been ignored every time. The lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. They were quick enough to take payment, but once there’s a problem, they disappear. On top of that, the rooms were absolutely disgusting—dirty, poorly maintained, and nowhere near an acceptable standard. This place is misleading at best and a complete scam at worst. Avoid at all costs.

I travel around UK I used lots hotels. Good place to stay . Have Big bath Shower 🛁 🚿 Heating, big room, massive room😊 It's very very good for the money Highly recommend God bless everyone 🙏

Very good location close to town centre and nice parks, however the hotel itself was disgusting. Corridor and bedroom reeked of cigarettes despite no smoking signs. The rooftop outside our window was covered in cigarettes which had been chucked out there and not cleared up. No fan or air con to get rid of the smoke, only a small window. Mattress was really hard like a rock, so you have to sleep on top of the duvet to be comfortable, meaning that you can’t get warm. Coffee making facilities had missing items, such as no teaspoons, and only one glass, despite the room being for two people. We’d called ahead asking for extra towels, and they didn’t bother to provide them. When we went to reception to ask for them, they were quite rude but said they would bring us “towels”, and eventually handed over one towel. It felt like they were doing the absolute minimum they could get away with. Toilet paper was half finished when we arrived, when we asked for another one they gave us another half finished one. Thin walls so we could hear people running around and slamming doors all night. Some plug sockets did not work. One plug socket was cracked and looked dangerous. I would call for a health and safety inspection immediately.

The room was very outdated and filthy, you could hear people walking above us, people in the rooms next to us talking. People running up and down the corridor slamming doors. The radiator in the bathroom was rusty and flaking. Not enough towels and no tea spoons in the room. Staff were not very helpful and had an uncaring. The only good thing was the location.

Absolutely abysmal hotel experience. Got to my room and it hadn't been cleaned, drug residue on the side, empty cans in the bathroom,bed hadn't been changed, very dirty. Got another room, bogeys smeared on the wall, drug residue on the sides, toilet had skid marks in, floor doesn't look like it had been hoovered since the 80's and the lock had been ripped off of the wall!!! Don't waste your time booking here, the 5 star reviews are obviously from friends of the owners. I ended up leaving after one night and finding a clean hotel. Wouldn't bother eating from the restaurant there either, if they think that presenting rooms in a unhygienic state then god knows what the food is like here!! Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Tried two rooms, one was given by mistake so changed to number 1. It’s an appalling place to stay, did try looking at other hotels but they’re really expensive. Honestly, don’t bother!! The reception area is REALLY deceiving!’

Stayed for 4 days last minute and got a great price, staff were friendly and the room was good for what I paid. It's not luxurious but you get what you paid, would recommend.

Had a nice stay with my partner. Environment friendly, peaceful environment.
