The Met

I had money stolen while staying here, presumably by the cleaning staff. I was staying here for work, I had do not disturb on my room the whole trip, as I had my work stuff spread out and didn’t need cleaning services. However, the cleaning woman saw me leaving my room multiple times, she would always ask if I needed anything. So she knew the room was empty. When I was packing up on the last day, I realized my small bag was gone (I never left the room with it) - it had $1300 in cash in it. I told the front desk - the woman there was deeply unconcerned about the situation. She told me she since I had do not disturb on my room that they “can’t go in” I reminded her that “do not disturb” is a piece of paper, not a fence. They conveniently don’t have security cameras on the floor I was staying on. Additionally, they use physical keys instead of key cards, so there’s nothing to track. The hotel has reached out to me to let me know they are “doing an internal investigation” but I have received nothing else from them. We filed a police report, but again, no security cameras, so I’m not sure what that will do. PS - there wasn’t a safe in the rooms so I couldn’t have locked up my things even if I wanted to.

Great little boutique hotel.

Pretty tired building, could use a clean and update. The room I stayed in facing the river was very loud all night - bar patrons from the hotel bar were very loud when it closed and the train whistles sounded in the early hours. Not a quiet place. Also the beds lacked adequate bedding. Just a thin blanket no duvet.

We had a great time staying here, but one thing I have complain is microwave missing(essential thing???), somehow we got hot water with easy fix from coffee maker. I know the place is so convinient for bus rider like me, 2 mins from Columbia Station, that is why the train noise is there, until 1am.

My sister and I were just getting ready to check in when she received a call saying she needed to return home to Surrey because of an emergency situation in her apartment building. We sent photos of the damage and within minutes had a message from Genesis saying that, after speaking with his manager they would cancel our reservation with no charge. We are so grateful and amazed at the great customer service we received!
