Avila Beach Hotel

The private beach at the Avila is gold - white sand, clear calm waters and plenty of opportunity for snorkeling right on the beach. The location is central to many restaurants (make reservations!) and walkable distance to the center of town for some sightseeing and shopping. No need to rent a car or take a taxi unless you want to explore other far parts of Curaçao. The hotel itself is solid, well kept grounds, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast (not included on price / pay per use). With a few upgrades and perks, this could absolutely be a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend!

We had an overall enjoyable stay at Avila Beach Hotel and I would stay here again, mainly because of the beautiful beach and how convenient everything was. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the balcony directly over the water was wonderful. Housekeeping came daily and consistently provided fresh towels. The beach area is definitely the highlight of the property and likely the reason for many of the hotel’s high ratings. They gave a small man-made reef with many cool fish. Loved the snorkeling opportunities. The pool is also nice, the bars are good, and the breakfast buffet offers a plentiful selection. We ate at both restaurants and found the food to be decent. Beach service was generally good, although it could sometimes take a while. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, but the service was not always especially attentive or accommodating at times. When we first checked in, I called the front desk to request extra towels and was told they would be sent up right away, but they never arrived. Noise was another frustration. Live performances across the bay carried directly into our waterfront suite, and the sound came through the walls very clearly. On multiple evenings, it was difficult to relax in the room while the entertainment was happening. One night we were warned a wedding was happening- that noise went until 10:30pm. We were also disappointed at checkout. We asked for just one additional hour, until 1:00 p.m., but even after speaking with a supervisor, the request was denied. We were told the incoming guest had not provided flight information, so they needed the room ready in case that guest arrived early, despite the hotel’s official check-in time being 4:00 p.m. We understood that late checkout could not be guaranteed, but the reasoning felt inflexible and prioritized a hypothetical early arrival over a current guest requesting only one hour. We had to get out of our room by 12pm, hold our luggage in their storage area, but the upside is that they do have a shower/getting ready area that can be rented out. Overall, this is a lovely property with a fantastic beach, clean rooms, beautiful waterfront views, and friendly staff. The service could be more responsive and accommodating, particularly for a hotel in this category, but the beach and location would bring us back.

Breakfast is subpar. Baked goods are not fresh. They hold recurrent loud events: a wedding, a late night sax player, a beach party on Sunday afternoon. Pillows and bed are uncomfortable. Shower can't hold a temp. Varies randomly from hot to cold during a shower. Cocktails are just mixer and a bottom shelf liquor. Massages were booked up the entire week. Gym closes too early: 6p. It's not relaxing or romantic at all. Though you may be looking for something different. Edit: Last day: "Hey, do you mind if we book a 1 hour late checkout" "No, you can't. The people taking the room after you didn't tell us what time they were getting here." "But check-in is 4pm" "Yes, but we don't know if the next people want to check in early. Therefore you cannot do a late checkout." "Our flight isn't until 4:45p" "Again, no, you cannot have a late checkout." Down to 1 star from 2.

Lovely beach, always a great place to be. Food and drinks are also top-notch and the staff is friendly. Highly recommended.

The hotel is excellent! It has a great structure with 2 private beaches with crystal clear waters and calm sea. It has great restaurants. It also has a swimming pool. Fun and relaxation guaranteed. Spacious and comfortable room. We were very well received with a delicious orange juice.

This resort is absolutely stunning. Their location, amenities and staff are all amazing.

We spent the last two weeks at this lovely hotel. The hotel's two beaches are beautiful and perfect for snorkeling. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating. The room was well-equipped and always spotlessly clean. The quality of the food in the hotel restaurants is very good. The only thing that could be improved is the children's menu, which could be a bit more extensive. If we ever return to Curaçao, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.
