I knew I was making a mistake when I chose this “hotel” and I did it anyway because of the price… and I regretted it. Finding my room meant walking down a long, cement hallway that looked like it was in a prison. The hallway had no heat. It was the coldest part of winter. It was around 30 degrees in the hallway. The room itself had heat that didn’t work consistently and with the hallway temp, it was freezing cold. I had brought my electric blanket but I was really angry that the hotel was getting away with selling rooms under these conditions. It was so cold that the water in the bottle I put beside the bed formed ice! Yes, I should have gone back to the desk clerk and asked for a different room… or my money back… except it was clear that all of the rooms along this long hallway would be freezing. And I am disabled. I was in a lot of pain after traveling all day and couldn’t face the thought of going through anything more. And I was with my child, who is autistic and struggles with change. Hotels and travel are hard enough on him without dealing with all that. Thankfully he’s very cold hardy. Only lost a pinky toe to frostbite. Pinky toes aren’t necessary, right? (I am joking about the frostbite but everything else is factual.) The next morning, I went to tell them everything and ask for a partial refund. The kid working at the desk felt terrible because any human being with a heart would feel terrible about renting a room to someone who then gets to freeze all night. But the kid had no power and could only refer me to his manager/hotel owner. It took me days to finally reach him by phone and when I tell you he brushed me off, it doesn’t cover the “screw you” attitude this guy showed. He said he’d “check into it” and call me the next day. Shocker: he did not. Nor did he take my calls afterwards. I was mad. It wasn’t the money, it was the total lack of care that really bothered me and made me go up the food chain to complain to Motel 6 corporate. I never heard back from them, either. Do not stay here. Yes, it’s cheap. But this place shouldn’t be in business. I think about all the people who can’t speak up even when they pay $100 to sleep in 30 degree temps … families with little kids were staying there. This guy is taking advantage of low income folks who don’t have the privilege of safely making noise about poor conditions.
I am not looking to rekindle a romance or to party all night. I am looking for the basics done well, and this describes the Bellingham Lodge. Clean, QUIET, pleasant, warm, good shower, comfortable bed, adequate breakfast, even a hot tub, all at an extraordinarily low price. I couldn't have asked for more. The last trip I stayed across the street for $16 more, because it was rated sky highly. Oops. It was not quiet (I-5 adjacent), its shower offered the choice between dribblingly warm or forcefully cool, and its heater was loud, erratic, and did not warm the room. I've found my go-to place in Bellingham. I hope you do too.
Great deal, rooms are clean and staff are great. Place is old and dated but cheap 😎👍👍 Got a pool n sauna, coin operated washer dryer ECT.
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my room, as this hotel was one of the cheapest in town. Guy at the front desk was nice, room and bathroom were super clean, everything worked well, mini fridge was ice cold and the room did not smell like cigarettes 👍 It was a nice budget stay. Surrounding neighborhood was not ghetto either.
Very good price, room was a suite with Jacuzzi I didn't use but extra space and a couch and coffee table. Little older and well maintained but had a rec room vibe. Very convenient to food, shopping, and WWU just a 20 minute walk so no parking hassles.
We are so great full to this motel. We had just lost our family to a fire it was 2 am and they made instant accommodations for our whole family. We originally went to motel 6 and they turned us away because we had no i.d for most the family because it was destroyed in the fire. Also they would not except my native i.s. we contacted the Bellingham Lodge and they said no problem just let them know how far out we were and they had our rooms ready and set up for us to sign in. A big thank you to the Bellingham Lodge for helping our family. They even had a Continental breakfast and coffee for guest . Thank you and big applause to your great staff. I would highly recommend this Motel to everyone to experience a hotel service at motel prices. Also the staff was very caring and helpful with my sister that is wheelchair having adequate accommodations.
CLEAN & Affordable for the area. Sure it’s older but ITS CLEAN & AFFORDABLE!
