El Hotel Ivey's

This is one of Charlotte’s most refined boutique luxury hotels. Walking in feels more like entering a European-style private residence than a typical hotel—dark woods, rich textures, and a quiet, intimate atmosphere. Rooms are designed with detail in mind—custom furnishings, curated decor, and a level of polish that feels intentional rather than generic. It’s the kind of place where everything feels elevated but never flashy. The real appeal is how personal it feels. It’s perfect for a romantic staycation or upscale weekend, where the experience is about comfort, privacy, and understated luxury.

What an amazing hotel. Simply put, best in Charlotte. Everything about it is first class. Walking distance to numerous entertainment, restaurants including Eddie V's, Ruth's Chris MOA, and Capital Grill. Inside the Ivey is Sophia's Lounge - a speak easy vibe that's so relaxing and enjoyable. Jasmine (hostess) and Rayy (bartender) are the greatest!!!! This place is a must visit.

Beautifully done hotel with great customer service. Everyone was super helpful. There were extra towels in the bathroom and they replenish supplies all the time. Location was great. The reason I gave a 4 for the room, the mattress was a little too firm. Wonderful hotel!

Because of the service I got, I will never stay here again! The hotel is beautiful though. Just need classier front desk individuals!

This hotel is absolutely stunning! it gave me old hollywood / classic Parisian vibes. Great location and the service is superb. Th only reason I am giving it a 4/5 is the parking & valet situation. There is only valet until 11:00p which is tough if you are delayed or arriving late for any reason than you have to park at a lot about 7 minutes away - which if you have luggage would be tough. Also the cost of parking is $55 a night which is also quite a bit. However I would stay again just not with my car.

I only have one negative thing say and that is the Elevator was down, which made it harder to get up the stairs, but other than that the hotel superseded my expectations. Beautiful 😍 hotel and front desk staff. Update they charged me for things on the bar i did not get, but after several attempts they made it right!

We've stayed in a lot of hotels, but The Ivey's is exceptional for the overall design of the room, especially for the number of outlets provided by both sides of the bed and at the desk.

We booked The Ivey’s through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, and from the moment we walked in, it missed the mark, and never recovered. The most baffling issue started at check-in. We had a two-night reservation, and an upgrade was available for the first night only. That was perfectly fine with us. However, we were told they could not apply the upgrade unless we canceled the second night entirely. That makes no sense. After everything that followed, we ultimately took their advice and tried to cancel the second night, but even that turned into an ordeal. At 8:00 PM, the hotel appeared to be staffed by just three people: one front desk agent, a valet, and security. There was no manager on duty. The front desk actually suggested we cancel the second night, but when we tried, the hotel refused and told us to go through Amex Travel. What followed was over an hour on the phone with Amex, largely because they couldn’t get anyone at the hotel to answer. During our stay, we attempted to use the $100 Fine Hotels & Resorts credit, typically one of the best perks of booking through Amex. Unfortunately, the hotel has only one restaurant, and it was closed for a private event. There is no spa, and no on-site shop for basic items. We were told the only option was the minibar, which wasn’t fully stocked. Ultimately, we sat in the lobby and waited while they brought out a bottle of wine at checkout so we could use the credit. It didn’t stop there. Several parts of the hotel, including the library, were also closed for private events. The tablet in our room didn’t work and no room service. At checkout, they couldn’t provide a folio of charges because their system only updates once per day — at night. So we left without any clear understanding of our final bill. I’ve stayed at many properties through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, and this experience was nowhere close to that standard. I don’t know what the criteria is for inclusion, but this property does not meet it. The only bright spot: the room and decor were excellent, truly top-notch. Unfortunately, great design can’t make up for poor operations, lack of service, and a guest experience that felt like an afterthought. We stayed at this hotel March 2026.
